November 6th ~ 13th
“Moonlit Dreams” by Gabriel Ferrier
On Tuesday, November 3rd, the United States decided to pick up the gauntlet and rejoin the world once again. We used the retrogrades well. The Full Moon in Taurus was compelling us to find our voices and use them, in order to simply say, No More. Retrogrades can often bring reversals, and these retrogrades were also a catalyst to take our power back. It will still be a long road before we get there. But now we have leverage. Thank you my fellow Americans for using your voices.
This country has its roots in the previous Pluto in Aquarius transit (1777-1798). With our Pluto Return at the very end of the Pluto in Capricorn era, we had a choice to self-immolate, or to reinvent ourselves all over again. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius we had a Revolution. This time around we once again have the capacity to create revolutionary changes. This is being expressed with a Congress that is becoming progressively more representative of this beautiful and diverse nation. With the reminder that it is our plurality, not our homogeneity, that makes us both strong and relevant.
In the words of the late President Jimmy Carter, in a democracy “We become not a melting pot but a beautiful mosaic. Different people, different beliefs, different yearnings, different hopes, different dreams.”
Giants are not what we think they are. The same qualities that appear to give them strength are often the sources of great weakness. And the fact of being an underdog can change people in ways that we often fail to appreciate: it can open doors and create opportunities and educate and enlighten and make possible what might otherwise have seemed unthinkable. ~ Malcolm Gladwell
On Monday (or Sunday), November 9th (8th) we have a New Moon at 16º Scorpio 53’. Scorpio is a sign of renewal, rebirth, of transformational change. Out of the ashes of what once was Scorpio has the capacity to rebuild something that is stronger, more enduring, more powerful than before. Mars, the traditional ruling planet of Scorpio is strong and brilliant in Leo. Made all the more so with the approaching conjunction to Jupiter (while also conjunct the South Node). We will be speaking to this powerful triple conjunction over the next few weeks, in which we are being asked to release what once was in order to make room for what can be.
On November 13th, Mercury in Scorpio will end its retrograde phase while square Pluto, the modern ruling planet of Scorpio. In the light of the growing New Moon in Scorpio, both of these configurations speak to power, who has it, what you do with it, and our personal relationship to it. It also speaks those beautiful qualities of Scorpio having to do with rebirth and renewal.
On December 2nd we have a perfect trine between Jupiter and Chiron, which includes both Mars and the Nodes of the Moon. These are transits of healing and guidance, something that serves as a testimony to the faith in the goodness within the world. Throughout this week, Venus slowing for its direct station on the 14th, is sextile both Mars and Jupiter while trine the North Node. Everyone across the zodiac seems to be coming to this party. This is truly a time for redemption and healing, both globally and individually. And all this is being ushered in by the New Moon in the 17th degree of Scorpio. A degree of self-empowerment and pure potential. The Sabian Symbol for 17º Scorpio is A woman, the father of her own child. Self sufficient, self-renewing and powerful.
On November 4th, Mercury entered into the heart of the Sun forming an exact conjunction. Mercury disappears from the sky when it rises and sets with the Sun. This is Mercury’s New Moon, which occurs in the middle of its retrograde phase, the nascent beginning of the next Mercury cycle. This is when Mercury’s inner essential nature is at its height.
The subtle insights that retrograde Mercury brings us at the New Moon are deeply significant for our own inner growth and mental awareness. In order to hear that inner voice speaking to us through our feelings, through our passions, and through our instincts, we are going to have to listen quite closely. For the insights that Mercury in Scorpio can bring, is a deep inner knowing conveyed through symbols, sounds and the senses. And with that almost, but not quite, square to Pluto, it is also deeply transformative.
The New Moon in Scorpio encourages us to make promises to ourselves to create better habits in our lives, or to transform our own lives. Some positive ways to use the New Moon in Scorpio on Monday (or Sunday depending on where you are in the world) might be:
Saying No More to oppressive or negative influences. This moon is about cultivating those remedies, those alliances and experiences that feed your mind, body and soul, rather than depleting it.
Transforming old patterns of behavior that are holding you back or preventing you from growing. And if there were something that you might want to heal, or change within yourself, what might that be?
Creating a plan for self-improvement. What would a healthier, stronger, happier version of yourself look like?
New Moons are times of beginnings, and setting initiatives. If you wish to make intentions or positive affirmations with the New Moon at 16º Scorpio 53’, the best time to do so would be during the New Moon phase which begins with the New Moon on November 8th (11:02 pm Pacific time) or November 9th (2:02 am Eastern Time; 7:02 am Greenwich time); and ends with the Crescent Moon on November 13th, when Mercury makes its direct station.
Scorpio is a sign of healthy and transformational growth and healing. Some of the themes of this Moon surround having the faith to believe that this is possible. Therefore some positive affirmations or intentions for this New Moon might be:
Out of the ashes of what once was, I have the capacity to create an even better and more meaningful future.
When I own my power, I can become an instrument for positive change in the world and in my own life.
I am endowed with the magical ability to transform problems into happiness.
I am profound and have depths of potential as yet unrealized.
I want to see myself happily releasing that which is standing in the way of my own growth and potential.
I am powerful and capable of taking on even the most daunting of challenges.
