May 29th ~ June 5th

In my quest of the Infinite, I have come to believe that God, Truth, Beauty, Love ~ all those concepts I associate with the Divine ~ are not things that are ‘found’ at the end of the path, like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but are rather what I experience on the journey as I travel through life ~ or perhaps, more explicitly, they are the journey itself. ~ Jan Phillips (God is at Eye Level)
This weekend we have a Full Moon at 9º Sagittarius 56’. Full Moons are times of culmination in which things are brought to some sort of culmination or completion. We see the results and consequences of decisions made and actions taken in the past. Things are brought out. They rise to the surface. All the feelings, all the things that had been simmering on the back burners of our lives.
The Full Moon in Sagittarius is often about big feelings. All the more so with Jupiter, the ruling planet of Sagittarius, in the emotional sign of Cancer, the Moon’s very own sign. We call that a mutual reception when planets are in each other’s signs as Moon in Sagittarius and Jupiter in Cancer are. Like house swapping, the Moon and Jupiter have a mutual regard and understanding of each other’s domain. Due to Jupiter’s exhalation in Cancer, they also enjoy these domains. Jupiter expands all the emotions and feelings while here, and the Moon feels larger than life in Jupiter’s domain.
Optimistic. Expansive. We grasp at straws of hope, encouragement and possibility in the light of this glorious Full Moon. For it simply needs to be so. This is a Moon of Big Dreams. The sort of dreams that dare us to reach higher. It aims to make us aware of a bigger vision for the future, and to see it, just there, at the far end of the horizon. Through the vastness of the Full Moon in Sagittarius we are given the opportunity to know and experience the sort of potential that can grow, perhaps even beyond our previous expectations.
Two additional things to note this week. Just before the Full Moon, the Sun makes its closing semi-square to Jupiter closing out the annual Sun/Jupiter cycle. The other is that Mercury enters Cancer on Monday, June 1st, where it will remain for an unusually extended period of time. Due to its retrograde June 29th thru July 23rd Mercury will be in Cancer until August 9th. This is when we lean into the familiar, the safe and the comfortable: Family, things that feel, smell, look like home, that which holds and supports us. We will speak more to this as we approach the retrograde, but know that in order to do this transit well we are going to need to turn down some of the noise in our lives. This is because the need to connect with others, as well as our own hearts and minds will be essential to our own health and well-being going forward.
Because the closing semi-square between the Sun and Jupiter is closing out a cycle, there seems to be a releasing that allows us to more fully embrace the potential of the Full Moon on Sunday (or Saturday in some parts of the world). The Sun/Jupiter synodic cycle has to do with cycles of growth, expansion and abundance. As it reaches the end of its cycle each year there is a sloughing off. Like sharing the fruits of our labor, our accumulated knowledge and our wisdom, all that has been received, we bring it back to the source from which they came… we will be coming full circle by the Full Moon in Aquarius in late July.
In the mean time, know that Full Moons are also magical. they connect us with our feelings, with our soul’s yearnings, and in this case our need to feel that irrepressible need to hope. Therefore with the Full Moon in Sagittarius this weekend:
Look at the Big Picture, and dare to look at your life from a higher perspective.
What comes to light in the Full Moon can be illuminating. These are directional cues to affirm whether or not you are on the right path.
Sow abundance, by creating a gratitude list, and then casting it out into the world, so that all beings may prosper and benefit from your generous spirit.
The Sagittarius Moon can be illuminating and mind blowing. Toss the coins, read the tea leaves, dance in the moonlight. There’s no telling what can be brought out within the ambit of the Full Moon in Sagittarius.
