“The Harvest Moon” by George Heming Mason
If you shut up the truth and bury it under the ground, it will but grow, and gather to itself such explosive power that the day it bursts through it will blow up everything in its way. ~ Emile Zola
This year’s Harvest Moon, the Full Moon closest to the Equinox, will rise on the night of October 6th-7th. This is also the first of 3 Supermoons, which occur when the Moon is also perigee or at its closest point to the Earth in its orbit. As a result the Full Moon will appear to be a bit larger and brighter especially as it is rising and setting. Hope for clear skies and check your calendar for rising and setting times of the Moon on the night of October 6th-7th.
The Harvest Moon at 14º of Aries, is exact on the night of October 6th, at 11:48 pm here on the East Coast of the United States, but will be at its brightest for almost everyone Monday night. The Aries Full Moon is directly opposite the Libra Sun, and makes a minor semi-square aspect to retrograde Uranus. And because it is directly opposite the Sun, look for the Moon to rise when the Sun sets, and to set when the Sun rises.
Aries is the sign of the noble warrior, courageous, independent and proud. The ruling planet of Aries, Mars is currently strong and indefatigable in the sign of Scorpio, despite the fact that it is feeling like it’s hands are tied, and unable to unleash its full force in the way it would normally be allowed to. Combine that with the Moon’s semi-square to Uranus and we may have something of a revolt on our hands. Aries is not a sign to be leashed. Full Moons are times of culmination which can bring the consequences of our actions and decisions. They can also bring things out into the open, and can even present a time of crisis in which you can no longer ignore a situation in hopes that it would just go away quietly. It won’t. Not with a Full Moon in Aries.
Our emotions are on the surface at the Full Moon, and in the sign of Aries you can expect those emotions to be heated, impatient and passionate. And if not allowed an outlet this could lead to a great deal of resentment and pent up rage. It will need a release. Things move quickly around the Aries Moon. Expect a lot of action and movement as we approach the Full Moon on Monday. We may try to avoid confrontations, or having to take some kind of action, but we will soon be made aware of the consequences and ramifications of doing so.
We are still in Libra season, the sign of the scales, where we weigh our decisions. However at the Full Moon in Aries you could feel the urgency of having to make up your mind about something. But rather than diving in, use the clarity of the Aries Moon to see precisely where you stand and what you are dealing with. The other consequence of the Full Moon in Aries, and Mars in aspect to Saturn, is to feel extremely restless and impatient because things are not moving quickly enough. This will will feel more so because all the outer planets, including Saturn are in their retrograde phases. As a result we might find quite a few people howling at the Moon trying to get things moving again.
Use the Full Moon to clear the air. Remove yourself from dissatisfactory environments, or reassess alliances that are no longer working. It will soon become apparent what is or is no longer appropriate for you. What are you needing to leave behind? What negative elements are you ready to release? What is holding you back? What are you no longer willing to compromise? This is a great Moon for clearing, letting go, and making it possible for you to move on to the next leg of your journey.
