Riding the Wave

June 1st ~ 8th

Neptune in Pisces.jpg
You see me standing here beside you, and hear my voice,
but I tell you that all these things ~ yes, from that star that
has just shone out in the sky to the solid ground beneath our feet,
I say that all these are but dreams and shadows:
the shadows that hide the real world from our eyes. There is a
real world, but it is beyond this glamour, and this vision,
beyond them all as beyond a veil.
~ Arthus Machen (The Great God Pan)

Venus in Cancer completes a Grand Water Trine with Jupiter and Neptune this weekend. After an isolating and doubtful opposition to Saturn earlier last week, this could feel like a warm wave of love, community and sharing, just washing over us. The lovely thing about this is that it takes no effort (Venus/Saturn required effort). We are being dared to open up to the grand possibility of Love, Belonging and Connection; of Caring and Empathy. Cancer is a sign of family, community, sensitivity, home and nurturing. We might ask ourselves, what is feeding your soul right now? Bask in this weather while you can, it only lasts a matter of days, so do make the most of it. These days are particularly fortunate for connecting with people who walk a similar path, or who share a similar destiny; opportunities that can bring both material and spiritual rewards; any creative, artistic, or aesthetic experiences that brings happiness and a sense of fulfillment. It is also good for parties, family get-togethers and picnics.

There is also an approaching opposition from Venus to Pluto this week, creating a ‘Kite’ formation with the waning Grand Trine. Family gatherings and relationships can also be complicated. And picnics can be invaded by ants. Pluto adds a certain compelling intensity that reminds us that even the most innocent seeming of encounters can carry an element of danger. And even the most perfect families have their dark secrets and wounds. In order to work with Pluto, we need to be willing to face that darkness with honesty and courage. Pluto often forces us to face things that we are ashamed of, or don’t want to have to deal with. The support of the Grand Trine (your coping mechanisms, your tribe, your support group, your faith, your guides) are there if needed. However, the Venus/Pluto opposition is a reminder of what or who we need to confront, in order to live a more meaningful life.

After the weekend the dominant weather through to the next New Moon, and culminating at the last quarter Moon on Wednesday involves a square between Sun & Mercury (now in Gemini) square Neptune in Pisces. From the sublime to the confusing, this could feel like an immersion into the deeper depths of Pisces, as we are being asked to slow down and go within. This is the Superior Conjunction of Mercury with the Sun, where Mercury travels behind the Sun (from our perspective). Mercury is currently invisible in the night sky, but about 5 days after the Superior conjunction, Mercury will appear as an evening star in the western horizon, setting shortly after the Sun.

Mercury now appears to be moving swiftly through the zodiac, and is normally when the mind is at its most objective. It is usually when we gain perspective about where we have come over the past few months, and where we wish to go from here. However, Neptune casts this liminal cloud over the proceedings, and like a great rolling fog, it feels as if we are caught at the fork in the road, but unable to see our way forward. It almost feels like there are two paths, or perhaps even multiple paths, all of which are veiled in some way. This could feel as if we don’t have all the information we need quite yet; that information is being withheld; that we are confused and unsure and beguiled. It may be that people are not being entirely honest with us; or us with them. Or we with ourselves. Don’t believe everything you hear, and don’t say everything you think. Some things are better kept to ourselves until the weather clears.

In times of ambiguity or uncertainty the best advice is usually to be still, and wait until clarity returns. It is not the best of times to make important decisions as the way forward seems so uncertain and even perilous. In some way we are being asked to shift our perception and focus for now, and place it either within, or on a higher ideal, accepting that the way we perceive things to be, is often not the way they actually are. To make the most of this foggy climate, what these days are good for (particularly from the 4th thru the 9th): dreams, fantasies, the imagination, (provided you can distinguish between the fantasy and reality); quiet, introspection, and meditation; walks in nature, or to the water or a beach; visits to an art gallery, a performance or musical venue. Do realize it may be difficult and distracting to get work done or to concentrate. It may be that you have too many things on your mind, or trying to do too much. Therefore plan accordingly. The beach is looking that much more inviting. And if you do have obligations to tend to, take each one, one chore at a time, one day at a time, in order to prevent yourself from becoming overly distracted and scattered.
