Horoscopes: October 17th thru the 24th

October 16, 2025 Lauren Coleman

“Ask me No More” by Lawrence Alma-Tadema

For the New Moon for your sign (or natal house placement for the New Moon at 28º Libra):

Aries

(7th House) One of the advantages of the New Moon in Libra is that it can be used to help us to restore the balance and regain our composure. Mars now in Scorpio lends you a certain fortitude and determination to stay the course, as if you could do otherwise. Like a moth to a flame, you find yourself inexorably drawn in a certain direction, or a particular person, and there’s nothing left to do but obey. Even if it seems impossible, even if it seems a far reach, there’s something there that is demanding your attention. The New Moon in Libra is when you become that much more aware of others, and your relationship to them. And this is particularly so for your closest relationships. New Moons are about new beginnings, but they can also be a time of renewal and ever deeper commitments to others. The New Moon in Libra gives you the opportunity to get closer to others, especially those people who complement you and fill in all the missing pieces. This is also a good time to go for that consult, find that expert, get advice from others that can bring you an intriguingly fresh perspective. Aries rarely likes to ask for help or advice, but this is the sort of Moon that will bring you just the advice you are needing. A good intention for this Moon might be: May I be led to find the best possible person or advisor that aims to fill in all those lost or missing pieces.

Taurus

(6th House) The New Moon in Libra on Tuesday can be best used to promote those things that support your health and well-being. This can include beginning a a new health regimen or routine, or getting the best advice as to where to even start. Libra is a sign of moderation and balance, and so can also be used to reestablish some sort of balance in your daily routines and your everyday life. This includes all those things we do to support our health and well-being, such as diet and daily regimens. Is there something that you’ve been thinking about incorporating into your routines? Are there areas where you are wanting to be more mindful of setting limits or creating better boundaries? The New Moon brings the incentive to restore balance and order to your everyday life. And this will be true no matter how busy your life may be, and no matter how overwhelmed or distracted you may feel. Pay attention to the important rituals in your life that not only manage to maintain your health and well-being, but also allow you to keep ploughing ahead like the stalwart Taurus that you are. Your health and well-being are key this month. Therefore a good intention for the New Moon might be: Through moderation and creating balance with daily rituals and activities, I not only achieve some sense of order, but also a sublime sense of peace and equanimity.

Gemini

(5th House) Mercury in Scorpio is sharp and discerning. It sees things that others miss. See if you can channel some of that discernment this week as it joins forces with courageous Mars, who dares to tell it like it is. Use the power of your ruling planet Mercury to get to the truth of a matter, and then explain it in no uncertain terms. For those who are ready to hear it, this can bring a certain gravitas to Gemini. Just be aware that in a few weeks Mercury will station retrograde, so verifying the truth is essential here. Especially as we enter the shadow period of Mercury’s retrograde phase this week. Gemini can be nimble and dexterous with words, but they can juggle other things as well. Most of us are in awe when you step up to the plate and show the world what you are capable of achieving. Use this week’s New Moon in Libra to show off some of those verbal skills, and then bask in their glory. Just make sure you dot those i’s and cross those t’s. This Moon is not only about you basking in your glory, and maybe showing off a little as well. It’s also about indulging your pride not only in what you do, but also the things that your loved ones do. You know, those people you love to brag about and are so proud of. If you wish to make an intention with the New Moon, something along these lines might be: When I believe in myself and the people I love, I am inspired to walk with the sort of majestic grace that breathes confidence in all I do.

Cancer

(4th House) The New Moon in Libra next Tuesday is a reminder to Cancer, that it is not the judgment of others that counts so much as the judgment of self. When you live up to your own standards and do not back down under pressure, you are capable of showing the world the sort of stuff that Cancer is made of. And this is especially so when we talk about community, developing a sense of belonging, and the willingness to care about others whether they are a part of your own tribe, or not. It is well nigh time to make the effort to get to know each other, share your traditions, share your recipes, culture and stories. Efforts made individually will then extend out into the community. Extend the olive branch of peace, invite people over for dinner. Get to know the world you live in. Much can be shared within a communal setting that can’t necessarily work as well on the larger stage. However with Jupiter in your sign of Cancer, we will see even small gestures on the grassroots level beginning to take root, and eventually growing up and out into the world. Be the one who sets the tone. A good intention for this New Moon in Libra might be: Through a willingness to step outside of my comfort zone and meet new people, I open up a whole new world of understanding and healing.

Leo

(3rd House) Libra is a sign of balance. And with the New Moon in the late degrees of Libra, the focus this week is about restoring balance and harmony within your own mind. One way to do that is by letting go of the unimportant and discordant things, like judging others, or the ways that you are feeling judged. Or trying to find blame where there isn’t any. The New Moon in Libra allows you to be able to look at problems even conflict, through the eyes of others. It brings another perspective and a deeper understanding. This allows us to meet others where they are, and arrive at compromises that work for everyone involved. Then on Wednesday/Thursday when the Sun enters Scorpio, make a commitment to follow through on any promises being made. This is not just for show. This is the real deal. The Sun entering Scorpio is a reminder that there is no going back on promises with this New Moon. Also make it a point to think before you speak this week. Mercury is conjunct Mars, which can sometimes be a little thoughtless and impulsive. Therefore remember before you speak to ask yourself: Is what I am about to say Useful? Is it Necessary, Helpful or Inspiring? Will it promote harmony and kindness?  Then make the intention to use your words to sow peace, harmony and virtue. The rest will follow.

Virgo

(2nd House) Your ruling planet Mercury will be joining forces with Mars this week. This is important, because Mercury is also entering the shadow of its retrograde phase which begins on November 9th. In the mean time it is giving you the courage of your voice. Just make sure that you use your voice to sow harmony rather than discord, and to heal rather than harm. The New Moon in Libra each year is an opportunity for you to clarify your expectations of others, as well as other’s expectations of you. That added insight will be very helpful. Libra is a sign that is useful for negotiations, and clarifying expectations. And the Mercury/Mars conjunction will give you the courage to state your case in no uncertain terms. Just remember that diplomatic charm is part of the New Moon in Libra legacy, capable of evening out the playing field even in the most divisive atmospheres. Evening the playing field can also mean paying off debts and/or collecting what is due in order to start off on a clean slate. This can be literal as in balancing the ledgers, but this can also be about restoring the balance in other ways, such as paying attention to how you can use your valuable time and resources in a more constructive way. A good affirmation for the New Moon in Libra might be: Knowing what my true priorities are and what I value most is key to understanding who I am.

Libra

(1st House) The New Moon in Libra each year is something of a renaissance and time of renewal. It is also an important time of year in which to reacquaint yourself with yourself. We grow, we gain ballast through experience and decisions made throughout the year, and the person we were last year may now have different aspirations. It is also an important Moon in which to clarify for yourself those things that you are willing to identify with and stand for. In a world that is constantly trying to change you, or get you to compromise yourself, knowing who you are, and standing by that is essential. And if you have been feeling uncomfortable about something or a particular issue, pay attention to that discomfort, for it just may be your own conscience, or something even deeper that is trying to tell you something. The New Moon on Tuesday will resonate with all Librans, but those more at the end of the sign from October 18-22nd are going to most fully resonate with this New Moon. This is a time for you to invest in yourself with a sense of renewal and a sense of purpose. Therefore make the vow with the New Moon in Libra that Today is the first day of the rest of your life, therefore live it like you mean it.

Scorpio

(12th House) The New Moon in Libra is often when we are tasked with restoring some sort of balance in our lives. That includes restoring the balance within our own minds and hearts. If something has become imbalanced, if you have been compromising yourself in order to avoid rocking the boat, this will no longer work. If you are feeling uncomfortable, pay attention, for that may be your own conscience speaking to you. And if going along with the trend isn’t sitting right with you, know where you may need to step out and be separate. Even if it is at the risk of being ostracized by others. Sometimes you just need to take some sort of stand. Your ruling planet Mars, now in your own sign of Scorpio, is strong and determined, and will take no prisoners this week as it joins forces with Mercury. There is something significant about having the courage of our ideas, our words, and our convictions as these two planets meet this week. But don’t rake up too much ire and commotion. For the New Moon in Libra is literally asking you to lead with a soft hand and a quiet heart. Hence the need to create balance within. Go on retreat, take a yoga class, find a still space away from the commotion of your life. This allows you to regroup and recharge, process and tie up any loose ends left lying about. Restore the balance, because when you create peace within. that will set the tone for what is happening without. Therefore make the intention with the New Moon to create the conditions to achieve inner balance, peace and harmony.

Sagittarius

(11th House) The New Moon in Libra is your annual wishing moon. But before you cast your wishes, take some time to reconnect with your current ideals and hopes for the future. These may be similar to the hopes and wishes of former years. But what with the recent eclipses over the previous year, these may have had something of an upgrade. And a square to Jupiter, now in Cancer, is daring you to think a little larger than usual. Perhaps even beyond your previous expectations. So explore your ideals, and make sure these haven’t been compromised by other people’s judgments or ideas. And think about what sorts of wishes and aspirations you may want to cultivate with this New Moon. It can sometimes feel with Jupiter aspects that there is too much to process, and it might be difficult to focus in on one particular thing. Maybe begin with what is right there in front of you first. And then expand it to include any other things that truly matter. Then toss your dreams out to the universe in hopes that they will find some fertile soil in which to grow. Then add the additional intention that: If this dream is meant to be for me, may the best possible circumstances arise to see it fulfilled.

Capricorn

(10th House) At this time of year, Capricorn is often focused on the future and the ways in which you can further grow your presence in the outer world. The New Moon in Libra is therefore a good time to set goals that you might want to achieve over the year ahead. And to also consider how you might want to best situate yourself in order to take advantage of future opportunities. In some ways with Jupiter now in the opposite sign of Cancer, you are being asked to expand your vision, and be inspired to take the next step. To be inspired is one thing, but the important thing for Capricorn is always in the details: what you need to do in order to make the vision a closer reality. This is a project in the making over the next few months. Think of it as creating a road map for the future, and then determining what your next steps will be. And even if you cannot implement your plans right away, this is about figuring out what your goals are and then getting out the graph paper, the compass and the ledgers in order to  make it happen. Therefore a good intention for the New Moon in Libra on Tuesday may be: May I recognize and follow the best path and opportunities that will allow me to fulfill my growing potential.

Aquarius

(9th House) This week Aquarius is looking towards the future and the possibilities that are just waiting to unfold. You ask yourself: What more do I need to learn? What experiences will improve my life and my prospects? Many an Aquarius is in the process of reinventing their lives, and a conjunction between Mercury and Mars this week will find you focused on taking the first steps towards achieving that aim. The New Moon in Libra is asking you to remember your potential and to look forward to what is possible in the future. There is a whole world of experience out there that is just waiting to be explored. But don’t discount the fact that the journey may be even more important than the destination. For it is the myriad of experiences, the understanding achieved, and the awareness that can come when we venture further out into the world that will be what you take with you. This New Moon can also be about connecting with your beliefs, and those core ideas and values that you know you are no longer willing to compromise. This is about getting back on track with your personal convictions and making a deeper commitment to standing by them. And remind yourself with the New Moon on Tuesday, that If justice and perseverance are the basis for action, all goes well.

Pisces

(8th House) The New Moon in Libra is often when Pisces will consider deepening or renewing their ties and commitments with others. This could even involve contracts, promises and taking a partnership or agreement to the next level. It could also be about balancing your needs with the needs of others, and figuring out how you can make these fair, equitable and manageable. That may mean drawing up agreements or figuring out what each other’s responsibilities are to each other. It could be as simple as who’s taking out the garbage and who’s doing the dishes. But it is also about understanding that agreements can only occur if we are willing to meet each other halfway. Libra is a sign of fairness and equanimity, with an aim to create conscious co-equal partnerships with others. The sort that work. This is a time of year to clear out some of the clutter of the previous months in order to prepare yourself for any festivities ahead. There is planning to be done. Arrangements to be made. Therefore a good affirmation for the New Moon on Tuesday may be: By clearing out the old and purifying my space, I make room for more positive seeds to take root and grow.
