Fede Benavides: Lunar Eclipse over the Rainforest
I was born during an eclipse. I believe very much in astrology. If you were born on an eclipse it indicates your destiny is chaotic. ~ Gloria Vanderbilt
On August 6th our social planet, Venus, entered her home sign of Libra. She finds comfort at home in this air sign that seeks alliances, pleasure and company. A sign that aims to find ways to connect with others. So it can be something of a buzz kill for the week to begin with Venus in an opposition to the planet Saturn, which is far less in a friendly mood, particularly while it is retrograde in Aries. There is nothing less that Saturn wants to do but focus on their own agenda right now. Venus is seen as something of a frivolous distraction. From Saturn’s point of view we don’t have time for that. Nor are we in the mood.
However Venus is our relating planet. And when Saturn opposes her like this, from Venus’ point of view, it can feel like we are being dismissed, shut out, rejected. Or we are finding it impossible to connect with the people or things that we desire, want or even need. Oppositions like this force us back on ourselves, and compel us to take notes. This is when we ask ourselves: Who is showing up when we need them, even though they are busy just like everyone else? Who are the people that we know we can rely on? And who are those who we can ’t depend on, and might even make things harder?
It is not unusual to feel unsupported or even rejected in Venus/Saturn weather. Our allies seem to be receding. But there may be more to this transit than meets the eye. For Venus is already beginning to slow down, which allows us to look at things from another perspective. And Saturn can often bring a brush with reality. It can come as something of a surprise who actually does step up to the plate. And who doesn’t. Welcome to the whirling dervish that is Eclipse season.
This will tie in to the upcoming Venus retrograde in October. So stay tuned. There is more to this picture going forward. And curiously the Partial Lunar Eclipse that falls on August 28th (or the 27th depending on where you are in the world) is playing a part as well. Venus is lurking on the edges of things. With some crisp minor aspects she interjects her presence in some surprising manner, so much as to say… “Ah! And who knew? What strange and curious alliances are being rearranged in the scheme of things?” “What strange bedfellows indeed?” The Fates, as they will, are colluding from behind the scenes, while silently weaving their tapestries. And they seem to have a bit of a sense of humor.
On August 22/23rd we enter Virgo season. This is when we begin to tie up the tail end of the Summer months here in the North. We’re getting our last visits to the beach in. We are rifling through the sweaters,, just in case the weather turns. If we are creative and industrious we might be canning the remaining peaches in preparation for the cooler months to come. Mercury’s entrance into its home sign of Virgo on the 25th doubles down on the idea that it is also time to get back to work, and take care of business. All those chores and plans that you had put aside due to the doldrums of the hot Summer months, are waiting for you. It’s nothing less than putting your life back into order, and reestablishing healthy routines and habits, that can help to get you back on track with your life.
The Lunar Eclipse at 4º Pisces 51’ culminates on August 28th here on the east coast of the United States at 12:13 AM (daylight time), 5:13 AM in the United Kingdom, and at 9:13 PM on August 27th, on the west coast of the United States.
The Sun and Mercury in Virgo are also setting the stage for the Lunar Eclipse in the opposite sign of Pisces. Virgo is a sign that attempts to create order in our lives. To make sense of things. But the Lunar Eclipse in Pisces brings yet another reminder that there are just some things that don’t make sense no matter how hard we try. And that there are some things over which we simply have no control. This will become especially evident with this Lunar Eclipse in which we are being asked to have faith that even in the face of uncertainty, even in the face of sudden and perhaps even irrevocable changes, that we are some how ending up precisely where we need to be.
Both the Sun and Mercury and consequently the Lunar Eclipse next Friday, are all square unpredictable and yet illuminating Uranus. Lunar Eclipses are times of culmination in which we see things brought to some sort of conclusion. This could be quite sudden when Uranus is involved. Not unusual for there to be a sudden turn of events when Uranus is involved. And if we dare to look we are being shown things in a whole new light. And once we see things as they are, we can no longer unsee it.
Uranus speeds things up. So we will need to have our wits about us. This Eclipse is rife with impulsivity. Pace yourself. Like a tornado coming in to whisk Dorothy away, this eclipse could jump in from left field, adding a few extra twists and turns. Just know that this eclipse is a North Node eclipse, meaning that whatever changes are occurring are what we are needing in order to fulfill our part in our collective evolutionary journey. And it may not necessarily be what we think it should be.
If we are on course, then we will receive confirmation for this. If not, then this too will become apparent. During a Lunar Eclipse, when the earth casts a shadow on the face of the Moon, we are being shown the ways that our actual physical reality is (or is not) in alignment with our soul’s purpose. Eclipses can literally open doors and shine a bright light on the proceedings, freeing us up, so that we can then see things exactly as they are without being distracted by our illusions. Like a supreme alignment, we are being asked to get ourselves back on track.
Pisces connects us to the collective, and so our own destiny becomes a piece in the destiny of the collective. And so through the gates of the Lunar Eclipse we are all being asked to transcend our usual boundaries and limitations, in order to merge with the great beyond. With this also comes an awareness that we are all swimming in this great ocean that we call Life. And we are never alone. There are others here with us, And together we are being led to fulfill a destiny that is much much larger than any singular individual could achieve on their own. So strap on those seat belts and keep your wits about you. We can pick up all the pieces after the Eclipse, when Jupiter and Saturn perfect a fiery trine.
