September 5th ~ 12th
“Guldnyckeln and the Norns” by John Bauer
Walking, I can almost hear the redwoods beating. And the oceans above me here, rolling clouds, heavy and dark. It is winter and there is smoke from the fires. It is a world of elemental attention, of all things working together, listening to what speaks in the blood. Whichever road I follow, I walk in the land of many gods, and they love and eat one another. Suddenly all my ancestors are behind me. Be still, they say. Watch and listen. You are the result of the love of thousands. ~ Linda Hogan (Dwellings: A Spiritual History of the Living World)
Planets are always so much stronger when they station. On Friday (or Saturday, depending on where you are in the world) Uranus will Station for its retrograde phase. And combined with a Total Lunar eclipse on Sunday, September 7th, will only make it that much stronger. Sudden and quick, illuminating and perhaps even catastrophic, Uranus can raze the land, and change our world on a dime. So can an Eclipse as powerful as this one is.
A blood red Moon, the Total Eclipse will be visible in Western Australia, Asia, Eastern Europe and the Eastern edges of Africa. With the totality lasting 1 hour and 22 minutes this Full Moon Eclipse should be spectacular.
Eclipses always come in pairs. So the Lunar Eclipse on September 7th will be followed by a partial Solar Eclipse on September 21st. And so we enter that liminal space when the Sun, Moon and the Earth are in perfect alignment. And never are they more so, than with a Total Eclipse, as this one will be. Lunar Eclipses are Full Moon eclipses,, and so similar to Full Moons can be about endings, culminations and completion. At 15º Pisces 24’ the Lunar Eclipse is closely conjunct the North Node at 18º of Pisces. The North Node literally defines the eclipse point, and because they are so close in degree, that is what determines its exactitude and totality.
Eclipses often serve as turning points when they touch a particular sensitive degree in our natal charts. The Lunar Eclipse can bring closure and the conclusion to events that had been simmering on the back burners of our lives. And unlike ordinary Full Moons, the consequences of what transpires, what we learn, what we see, discover, or release, will be felt for months, and perhaps even years to come. They could even be life-altering.
And because the Sun (Spirit), the Moon (Soul), and the Earth (Body) are in such perfect alignment at these eclipses, they allow the Norns, the Fates that sit at the feet of Yggdrasil weaving their tapestries, to rearrange the pieces on the playing board of life, in order to fulfill your destinies. And there is nothing to be done at these times but to move through the veil, along with the fates, and accept the hand that has been given.
And because we cannot see the full tapestry that is being woven, it can often feel like these periods are unpredictable and out of our hands. All the more so when accompanied by the station of Uranus, which speeds things along with an element of shock and awe. But do also know that these eclipses are ultimately in service towards our own, as well as the evolutionary progress of human kind as a whole. And what we receive within the gates of these eclipse season is necessary for our soul’s journey. And that is the very definition of a North Node attending Eclipse: that it is in service towards fulfilling our soul’s growth and development.
During the retrograde phase of Uranus which lasts from September 6th thru February 4th, we are being asked to turn the Uranian energy within. This is a time of adaptation and adjustment, as we come to terms with whatever changes have already occurred, are occurring within the veil of the eclipses, or you are planning to make in the future. By adjusting inwardly, we prepare ourselves for the time of New Beginnings which will be greeting us in the coming year. We will be speaking more to this over the next several months. But for now, we are becoming more aware of what those changes will entail.
The Lunar Eclipse in Jupiter’s sign of Pisces, is also trine Jupiter in Cancer. There is something spiritually fulfilling and emotionally drenching as these water signs meld, grow and expand our awareness. An awareness that there is something much much greater than just ourselves. Pisces connects us to the collective, and so our own destiny becomes a piece in the destiny of the collective. And so through the gates of the Lunar Eclipse we are all being asked to transcend our usual boundaries and limitations, in order to merge with the great beyond.
With this also comes an awareness that we are all swimming in this great ocean that we call Life. And we are not along. There are others here with us, And together we are being led to fulfill a destiny that is much much larger than us. And the part that each of us plays will be found in that still small voice of spirit, conscience, and unity.
Our homework for the Lunar Eclipse in Pisces on September 7th is to:
Do things that will align you with your own drop of the ocean: Meditate, Pray, read something spiritual, or poetic. Listen to something beautiful. Take long walks in nature, or near the water. Seek solace in sacred spaces.
Connect with yourself: Reflect, journal, read the cards, consult the I Ching, dust off the pendulum and the oracles.
Channel the Pisces Eclipse: commit random act of kindness and compassion; stop to listen; be present for others. Volunteer your time or resources for a good cause.
Let go: of those things that are needing to go; Release. Forgive. Shake off regret, anger, dismay and sorrow. Doing this good work will make room for better things to come in the future.
Slow down: Pay attention, See, Hear, Feel, Be present in order to honor and fully appreciate each moment.
