The New Moon in Virgo 2025

August 22 ~ 29th

“Virgo” by Johfra Bosschart

Rather than dismissing ourselves as unchangeable creatures of habit, we can instead direct our own change by consciously developing new habits. In fact, the more new things we try ~ the more we step outside our comfort zone ~ the more inherently creative we become, both in the workplace and in our personal lives. ~ Janet Rae-Dupree

On Saturday, August 23rd, at 2:07 AM Eastern Time (11:07 pm on Friday, August 22nd on the West Coast; and 7:07 AM on August 23rd in the UK) we have a New Moon at 0º Virgo 23’. The Moon makes a very tight square to Uranus at 1º Gemini 23’, and a semi-square to Jupiter at 16º Cancer 23, totally insinuating itself into the prevailing Jupiter/Uranus semi-square.

New Moons are times of new beginnings, and are often good times for seeding intentions. This Moon will be especially useful if you are either having to adjust to changes that have recently occurred, or wanting to make certain changes moving forward. Make the intention to be open to the changes that are being brought to you now, for they are trying to open up your life to possibility. Resisting them will be futile. It may take a little adjustment, and a certain amount of flexibility to ride this wave, but doing so will bring growth in ways that you might not hav thought previously possible. In some way we are outgrowing our current circumstances, and it is time to be free to explore new and untried paths.

The New Moon is asking us to try something new, to be innovative, and to step just enough outside of our usual comfort zones to such an extent that we can see the world from a whole new perspective. Virgo New Moons are grateful from trying something new in the workplace, learn a new skill, change up or adjust your routines. It is a good time to begin a new health and wellness program, tweak a diet or begin a new fitness program. Look for new gadgets or apps that can simplify your life, and allow you to organize daily routines. Free up you schedule just enough to try new things. Rearrange your environment at home or in the workplace. Even small changes can free us up to think more creatively.

The Jupiter/Uranus cycle lets us know that we don’t have to keep doing thing the way we always have in the past. And that there might actually be better ways of approaching a problem. Break some of your rules. Change patterns and routines, and allow yourself to look at a problem from another perspective.

If you wish to use the New Moon to set intentions or make some positive affirmations, wait until the New Moon on August 23rd (or 22nd depending on where you are) in order to do so. And try to seed these within the New Moon phase, from the New Moon on August 23rd up until the Crescent Moon on Tuesday the 26th. Make them positive. And make them your own.

Some possible intentions or affirmations for the New Moon in Virgo might be:

  • In order to ride the wave of change, I will need to remain ever vigilant and yet flexible enough to roll with the changing tide.

  • By creating order out of the existing chaos, I make space for new ideas to take root.

  • I seek this wisdom by doing service, by strong search, by questions and by humility. ~ William Q. Judge

  • Recognizing that health is the greatest of blessings, I will do what I can to promote my own and other’s well-being.

  • I stand in awe at nature’s bounty and wisdom, and its capacity to restore health and vitality.

  • May I honor Goodness, the Goddess and the Creator by giving service to all that live, including those who do not have a voice of their own.
