November 28th ~ December 5th
It is by going down into the abyss that we recover the treasures of life. Where you stumble, lies your treasure. The very cave you are afraid to enter turns out to be the source of what you are looking for. ~ Joseph Campbell
In the days leading up to the station of Mercury we begin to see our minds, our lives, and awareness returning to what we usually associate with normal. It’s a gradual shift in consciousness, which brings our minds more squarely into the present moment. And with it comes clarity. Kind of what it feels like when you’ve slept on a problem and then wake up in the morning with all the answers. Things come together. You can create something of a plan.
The station of Mercury occurs right after the Saturn station. Both pausing as they readjust the inner gps system of our lives. Ultimately what comes of these simultaneous stations is an awareness that we can now proceed with our lives. Obstacles seem to fall away. A plan begins to unfold. A spreadsheet is created. We’ve got this.
This one is slightly different in that Mercury’s travels to and from Sagittarius and Scorpio had it opposing Uranus 3 times. Before, during and then after the retrograde. October 29th, November 19th and then later on the one on December 10th. It’s like looking at a situation from several angles, before we totally make up our minds. So it can include things like changing our minds, changing the direction, or looking at things in a different light. Uranus is unexpected. It is also illuminating. It aims to free us up so that we are not limited by the usual rules and strictures. Changes can come from without, or we create them ourselves. Either way, even as we are making the spreadsheets, and organizing our lives, it might be good to do so with a grain of flexibility. At least until we get past that last opposition on the 10th.
What we are better able to do now, is to look at things more objectively. Like standing back to look at a painting, or to put down a book to absorb what we just read. It allows us to see the threads of our lives coming apart and then rejoining again. Just be open to what is being brought to light. For that last opposition to Uranus could bring us the last pieces of the puzzle. And whatever we learn, see, or consider, allows us, yet again, to adjust our plan, our life, our schedule.
Even before we get to the final Mercury/Uranus opposition, Venus leaves the depths of Scorpio on Sunday, but not without its own opposition to Uranus this weekend. This deep dive into Scorpio with retrograde Mercury, Venus and the Sun at its last degrees of the sign, was not only reflective, it was almost diabolical in its effects. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio can almost be obsessive in its effects. Riddled with truths and contradictions. Maybe interlaced with shame and forgiveness. We haven’t had the luxury to look the other way.
But one thing that Venus in Scorpio brought to the equation is the clarity of knowing what we truly want and/or need in our heart of hearts. What we need to be happy. When we connect on this very deep soul level, whether that be with ourself or others, we become aware of who we are, what feeds our soul. And knowing this can be illuminating. It can also be painful at times as our heart is opened up and revealed in a way that can almost feel vulnerable. And then, just like that, Venus enters Sagittarius on Sunday.
Just before Venus leaves Scorpio on Sunday it will make a romantic trine to Neptune in the very last degree of Pisces. While stationing in this last degree, Neptune is gathering the essence of all that once was while now asking us: What are the dreams of your heart that you wish to bring with you on this very last leg of this last journey? And what childish illusions are you now needing to leave behind? In this way, Venus leaves the tumultuous depths of Scorpio, with all of its feelings and passions, and emerges out of her cave realizing that there is a whole world out there just waiting to be explored, enjoyed, and celebrated.
Change can leave many feeling baffled. It is messy in pieces. And can feel chaotic and unmoored. But at some point in the process we begin to see the chinks of light peeking through the fabric. And that’s what all this looks like as Mercury finally makes its direct station on November 29th.
This is a scenario occurring in increments and steps. It aims to restore hope and faith, and the belief that things can indeed be better. And this is all being capped off this week with a Full Moon on December 4th at 13º Gemini 04’. Gemini is a Mercury sign, and as Mercury gives us the green light to proceed, the Gemini Moon will show us why. Full Moons are times of culmination. Stuff comes to the surface, and things are brought to completion.
This Full Moon also has a significant position in the over all scheme of things. It is the Full Moon betwixt and between two Lunar Eclipses: the Eclipse of September 7th at 15 Pisces, and the upcoming Lunar Eclipse on March 3rd at 13 Virgo. For anyone who has important points in their natal charts at or around 13-15º of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces) this Moon can serve as a turning point in your life. But we should all pay attention.
The Full Moon on December 4th stands at the bending of the Nodes. The Nodes are the points in which the Sun, Moon and the Earth are able to come into perfect alignment. So much so that either the Sun or the Moon is eclipsed. The Full Moon next week is at cross quarters with the true Nodes of the Moon, and thus betwixt and between the 2 Eclipses.
Because the North Node is in Pisces, the Full Moon in Gemini is in service to the behests of this Node that has to do with the evolutionary progress of mankind. Out of the mists and ancient memories of the Pisces Node, all the experiences, the essence and meaning of all things, a story is unfolding. This may be in words, it may be in another symbolic language, one that connects with the essence of your very soul. And it is this, that we are being asked to take with us, on to the next leg of our journey.
The goal of the hero’s journey is yourself, finding yourself. ~ Joseph Campbell
Things to do this week:
Create a to do list. But also keep it open ended, so that you can add and subtract as needed with the next Mercury opposition on December 10th.
Ask yourself: what changes are you needing to make, and among these which is most pressing?
From what you have discovered, thought about, obsessed about these past few weeks, what have you learned about yourself and others? What do you want to take with you? And what do you want to leave behind?
What are the things, people and circumstances that your heart keeps turning to? Then ask yourself why? What is it that is so compelling about these?
What is the story, the truth about all things that you are needing to tell?
Connect with your vision for the future, and then ask yourself what steps you can take in order to make that vision a closer reality?
All that stuff that you kept putting off for whatever reason. Do it.
