October 31st ~ November 7th

Passion will move men beyond themselves, beyond their shortcomings, beyond their failures. ~ Joseph Campbell

The days leading up to a Full Moon can feel like a bit much, too much activity, wakefulness at night, an abundance of feelings. Water sign people, people who have an affinity for the moon, people who are just tuned in know this: about the Moon and its phases. The Full Moon phase is like a culmination for all the feelings, the things that we have been holding close to our chest, but now cannot hold back any more. The things that are coming to fruition or ending. The Full Moon in Taurus on Wednesday, November 5th is also a Super Moon, meaning that it occurs when the Moon is at its closest point to the earth in its orbit. This is the 2nd of 3 Super Moons, and the closest Full Moon of the year.

Be sure to look for the Full Moon, clear skies providing, the night before the culmination of the Moon, which here in New York City will be at its peak at 8:19 am on Wednesday, November 5th. At that time it will not be above the horizon in our neck of the woods, but if you wish to see it in its glory try to catch it at Moonrise or just before Moonset which coincides with Sunrise during a Full Moon (6:31 am Eastern Time). Like opposing energetic spheres of light, the Sun will be peeking its fiery head up in the East, as the Moon sets in the West. Due to an apparent illusion, the Moon looks even larger at Moonrise and Moonset. Therefore best viewing is likely to be Tuesday evening or Wednesday early morning, depending on where you are in the world, weather permitting.

Full Moons can be a little magical. Each month the Sun and the Moon come into alignment, bringing all of our hopes, feelings, dreams, values and emotions to the surface of our lives. This allows us to connect with what had been there all along, just waiting to be realized, understood and seen.

We tend to feel the Full Moon more strongly in the few days approaching its culmination, and already begins to wane afterwards. Full Moons can be wonderful for casting runes, reading the tea leaves, dream casting and reading the tarot. Do so at night when the Moon is above the horizon, and preferably the night just before the Moon culminates (check your local listings: 8:19 am here in Eastern Time; 5:19 am Pacific time; 1:19 pm British time on November 5th). These readings can be uncannily accurate! And one would expect this to be especially so with the Moon opposite Sun in Scorpio, sextile the True North Node, and semi-square mystical Neptune.

This is also an excellent time to step back and look at certain areas of our lives more objectively. We might ask ourselves:

  • What are you learning and discovering in the light of the Full Moon?

  • As a result of what you are seeing, what adjustments might you want to make going forward?

  • Is there something in your life that is either coming to fruition or ending?

  • In what ways do these realizations impact your values, and your sense of self-worth?

  • What insights might you be receiving about your true life’s purpose and destiny?

Full Moons are illuminating. And knowing who you are and honoring your true priorities can help you to realize your potential. They can also help us to navigate any potentially chaotic weather that may be brewing. This path will be different for each of us. But by honoring what is most important to you, and making it a priority, you come to understand your own truth. And with a passionate yearning hold on to that.

The Moon will be full. It will be large. And just before it culminates on Wednesday, Mars enters Sagittarius while it opposes Uranus which is poised to return to Taurus on the 7th/8th. Taurus is a sign of serenity and peace, but Mars/Uranus transits can be destabilizing. Perhaps shockingly so. Explosive, chaotic, surprising, impulsive. Sometimes we need to change and evolve our lives in order to accommodate whatever inner changes have been brewing. And sometimes we need to take a few risks in order to do so. But what we don’t want to do is to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Hold on to the things that are important, even as we navigate whatever unexpected changes, twists and turns that Mars/Uranus transits may cast upon us. Hold on to what matters.
