The Full Moon in Sagittarius 2024

May 17th ~ 24th

H. Kopp-Delaney

In my quest of the Infinite, I have come to believe that God, Truth, Beauty, Love ~ all those concepts I associate with the Divine ~ are not things that are ‘found’ at the end of the path, like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but are rather what I experience on the journey as I travel through life ~ or perhaps, more explicitly, they are the journey itself. ~ Jan Phillips (God is at Eye Level)

On Thursday, May 23rd we have a Full Moon at 2º Sagittarius 55’. Full Moons are times of culmination. Things are brought to conclusion. We see the results and consequences of decisions made and actions taken. Things are brought to light that we had not previously seen or realized. Emotions are also brought to the surface, and the Moon in Sagittarius is often about big emotions, and big feelings. But with the ruling planet of Sagittarius in the very last degree of the sign of Taurus, it’s this idea of results, rewards as well as consequences that appear to be the star of the show.

Just two days after the Full Moon on the 23rd, Jupiter will enter the sign of Gemini, where it will remain until May of 2025. Jupiter is not the only one at this critical degree of Taurus, for Venus is here as well. The planets of good will and prosperity seem to be captivating and celebrating the occasion, as they stand in sharp relief to the Full Moon. Both planets are also sextile Neptune, the planet of enchantment. And so as Venus and Jupiter are just barely poised to enter Gemini soon after the Full Moon on Thursday, we might all want to ask ourselves:

  • What valuable lessons have I learned about love, and cherishing, and the things that truly matter in the end?

  • What are my truest priorities, and those things that I hold in the highest esteem?

  • What opportunities are standing there right in front of me, that I may have been ignoring or neglecting all along?

  • What are those things that I have achieved this past year that are priceless and cannot be measured in the usual ways?

The Full Moon in Sagittarius is also giving us a prescient peek ahead, so that we can get a better perspective and understanding of what to expect when Jupiter enters Gemini next week. Will this be a year of Sharing vast stores of Information, Options, Diversions and Distractions? What new journeys are we about to embark on? In what way are you being called?

This is a Moon of Big Dreams. The sort of dreams that dare to reach high. It aims to make us aware of what our highest and truest ideals are, and to see them, just there, at the edge of the horizon, or even in the potential of a small acorn or pinyon seed. Through the vastness of the Full Moon in Sagittarius we are given the opportunity to know and experience the sort of potential that can grow, even out of the small and seemingly insignificant pieces of our lives.

God, to me, is the universe unfolding, the power and potential within all life, the oak within our acorn selves. Not one bit separate, but fused with us like salt and the sea, ever-present in the faces, the scenes, the feelings that pass through our lives day to day. ~ Jan Phillips (God is at Eye Level)

Full Moons can also be magical. They connect us with our feelings, with our soul’s yearnings, but also with the infinite. And with a magical Venus/Jupiter/Neptune sextile perfecting on the same day as this Moon of limitless potential, dare to tap into your own inner knowing. Last week I noted how the Jupiter/Neptune sextile can be used. This becomes ever more so in the days leading up to the Full Moon. Use it to:

  • Visualize: Envision the life of your dreams. Open up your mind and your heart to the dream world, to enchantment and romance; to the world of art and of the imagination. Jupiter/Neptune dares us to discover and explore the far reaches of time and space, both within us, and out into the far reaches of the universe. And yet can also be found in the small and seemingly insignificant experiences of our daily lives. It can expand our hearts and minds in wondrous ways, if we but allow it to do so.

  • To connect with the Divine: In what ways can you put your spiritual and philosophical ideals into practice in your daily life? How can you make them more real? What might it mean for you to walk the walk as well as to talk the talk? Jupiter in Taurus has been reminding us all year that spiritual values mean nothing if we don’t apply them practically in our everyday lives.

  • To connect with Spirit: Or what might also be called the Higher Self; God Wisdom; Spirituality; Intuition. Not only will this be excellent for connecting intuitively: reading the cards, divining the tea leaves, or reaching a transcendent state of divine meditation; but is also the basis for things like altruism, compassion, empathy and doing good service. There is that within each and every one of us that is connected with the whole and enables us to gain a much higher perspective. Mind/body practices, spiritual experiences, travel abroad, music, dance, art, meditation, being in natural environments, or sacred spaces, or through service to others, can help to facilitate an ever deeper connection with your own divine center.
