July 14th ~ 21st
Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas any more.
You may begin to feel the energy amping up this week. This is not an illusion. The Sun and Mars are closing in for a conjunction on the 26th of July, just days after the New Moon on the 23rd. Talk about a jump start into Eclipse season! We are only revving up at this point. So strap on your seat belts, it’s bound to be a bumpy ride. And thanks to a close square to radical and rebellious Uranus this week, there’s no telling where this will take us. Be prepared for a few inexplicable and unexpected twists and turns over the next few weeks. Patience and flexibility are required.
The Sun/Mars conjunction follows last week’s Full Moon Sun/Pluto opposition where truths were being revealed and underlying problems unearthed. Ethical and moral standards stood in the cross hairs as Jupiter teeters in the balance, perched on the Libran scales of justice. It’s time for some truth or consequences.
Both the Sun and Mars are carrying light and energy from Pluto to Uranus this week. Then they will later move from the tropical sign of Cancer into fiery Leo. In the mean time, it could feel for some that their past is catching up to them. For others, revelation and understanding may lead to resentment or seething resentment and even anger. And as Sun/Mars approach their squares to Uranus, it reactivates the Uranus/Pluto square just enough to realize that if something is broken, unethical, damaged or oppressive, it needs to be fixed. Now.
Sun/Mars/Uranus weather is choppy and treacherous though. Come prepared. This is an explosive and impulsive combination, which can be potentially dangerous. Just to add to the general chaos, the 3rd quarter Moon is exactly conjunct the dwarf planet Eris, the goddess of discord. Use the energy for change, but do it wisely and carefully. Sun/Mars/Uranus also has its advantages. Any anger that arises can be channeled positively into constructive action and change. It brings initiative, courage and the motivation to do something in the face of difficult or oppressive circumstances. Cancer is a sign of home, family, country, the people of the nation, and the world. It is a sign of community. Sun/Mars can indicate discord within the community. But it can also indicate mobilization. It all depends on how it is used.
We are now at the 3rd quarter moon, gearing up for the New Moon in Leo on the 23rd, which is just the sort of creative and inventive picture that can take us places. However, with all this changeable weather we’re going to be having, one suspects that by the end of August, there are going to be quite a few people feeling like they’re not in Kansas any more.
