October 5th ~ 12th
“A fight is going on inside me,” said an old Chief to his grandson.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
“One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt and ego.
“The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
“This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
“Which wolf will win?”
The old chief simply replied, “The one you feed.”
With Saturn entering Scorpio for the next 3 years, the pull between the forces of good and evil become stronger. On one side, the lure to explore Hades’ underworld becomes that much more seductive: dalliances with addiction, sexual indiscretions, obsessions, desire for power and control over others (or at the expense of others), greed, jealousy, blame, you name it!... the more you feed these, that much stronger they will grow in Saturn in Scorpio weather. And they will also be your undoing. Saturn is the Lord of Karma, after all.
Conversely the opposite is also true... any efforts to promote good in the world, to actively support causes that benefit humanity as a whole, to undo the demons of betrayal and weakness in our own lives, will be met with a community of effort, not only in the material world, but in the occult world as well. This is because the Good is always stronger. It always wins in the end. Especially now, because Saturn is making some really strong aspects while in Scorpio. And when you hitch your wagon to the good and the true in Saturn in Scorpio weather, the possibility for not only achieving success, but growing, and discovering, and healing, and self-empowerment is that much more possible. This doesn’t mean we won’t also have to negotiate some of the demons of Scorpio such as trust and betrayal; or power and greed along the way. They’re hard to avoid when Saturn is in Scorpio. But we will also get a good dose of Truth in the process.
Saturn in Scorpio mercilessly and sometimes embarrassingly lets us know what our weaknesses are, what needs healing, what needs shoring up. What needs to end. Scorpio is the rug under which we hide the trash. The stuff we don’t want to deal with. Unfortunately when Saturn comes to call, we’re not allowed to hide the stuff under the rug any more. Where Saturn travels is where we have to do the work. Denial and avoidance is no longer a reliable coping mechanism. And with Saturn in Scorpio, that means having to sort through the trash heap that we’ve been trying to ignore.
And Lord knows what you are going to find in there. A lot of it will need to be burned, tossed on a funerary pyre, recycled and/or rehabilitated. Some things will need to meet their timely, much-needed demise, while other things will actually be growing in there. And not just bacteria. In the process truths are revealed. Some that you didn’t want to necessarily see, and others that can be down right enlightening. Scorpio is the sign of alchemy, and through the process of purification and transformation, much of that trash might just prove to be more useful and valuable than you had previously thought.
Mercury, Charon-like, escorting Saturn into Scorpio today, makes things look bleaker than they actually are. Part of this is due to a highly uncensored dose of reality when Mercury meets Saturn in this sign. Do not let this initial view over the River Styx discourage you. Saturn in Scorpio is currently receiving mega support, and will continue to do so over the next few years. Jupiter will even contribute his beneficent influence for a good part of this time, which brings success. Currently Saturn is receiving that support through a trine from inspirational Neptune. This is Divine Power at our fingertips. It is the process of creating art out of trash. Of making lemonade out of lemons. It’s about us discovering what is within our grasp to create the world, the reality that we would truly like to see, out of the ashes and/or pieces of what was. This is one of those junctures, of co-creation, that if you are brave enough and willing enough to seek, you will find the answers and the means to create a realistic plan for making a dream a closer possibility.
For the week of October 5th thru the 12th, see what truths are ready to be revealed, and be sure to read your Rising Sign as well:
You know what they say about casting pearls before swine? Sometimes that’s how it feels when you dispel your words of wisdom, and they just get belittled and scoffed at. That’s usually when the manacles come out with Aries. You really want to be able to defend your ideas and beliefs, but it just seems that whatever you have to say this week is going to be falling on deaf ears. How frustrating is that? Sometimes discretion is key, although that is not usually your style. This is one of those times. Don’t be discouraged, this is only a temporary setback. You’ll be back in true form in no time!
Despite the fact that not everything is perfect (is it ever?), there still seem to be some good excuses to go out (maybe go on a date) and have that meaningful conversation that you’ve been planning on having with that special someone. Even if it means having to share some hard truths that they don’t necessarily want to hear. On the other hand, if you are totally tuned in, and if you listen, really listen to their needs, you just may be able to sort a few things out, and achieve an agreement that works for everyone involved. It will feel really good when you know that you are both on the same page.
Expect your mood to lighten as the week progresses. Part of that is realizing that things are not quite as dismal as they first seem. Having your ruler, Mercury, escort the planet of gloom and doom into the realm of Scorpio today is not usually the way you would wish to begin the weekend. However, if there are any projects lying around that need your immediate focus and attention, this combination is brilliant for getting down to business, organizing, and taking care of all the necessary details. If you want to do some research, get your questions answered, or tackle a health problem or habit... next week, after the weekend is just brilliant. All sorts of interesting facts are going to be revealed. “You know my method. It is founded upon the observation of trifles.” ~ Sherlock Holmes (The Bascombe Valley Mystery)
Certain responsibilities, obligations and commitments are going to take precedence these days. You are becoming more aware of what you should be doing, rather than what you would rather be doing, such as playing and having fun. That’s okay though. As Saturn moves into Scorpio this week, so will your attention shift accordingly. This is not the most romantic of placements. Mr. Saturn does seem to cool things off in the fun department. With Saturn now in Scorpio, the next few years are going to be critical to understanding the true meaning of loyalty and commitment, as opposed to fun and games. Who and what you love should be worthy of your time and attention. Love is serious business now. It’s time to get real.
As Saturn moves into Scorpio this week it heralds a time in which the concerns of home and family begin to take more precedence. You’re going to begin to think in terms of where you want your long-term home base to be, and to make a solid commitment to that. You will be weighing all of your options over the next few years: what works, what doesn’t, what needs to be repaired, shored up, made safer and more secure. Once you get all those loose ends tied up, then you will know that you have a firmer and more reliable foundation from which to operate in the future.
Things may look a little dismal as Mercury escorts the Lord of Doom and Gloom into deep and critical thinking Scorpio this weekend. But this narrow viewpoint will not last long. Before the week is out, you will have every problem solved, everything in its place, organized and punctuated to boot. There is not anything that will escape your eye, or that sharp discriminating mind which is honed to a razor’s breadth of sharpness this week. You will make it your business to know what other people don’t know. “The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance observes.” ~ Sherlock Holmes (The Hound of the Baskervilles)
What you really need is some peace, escape and quiet this week. As much as you enjoy the company of loved ones, you think best when you are least distracted, and can surround yourself in a veil of meaningful silence. This is one of those weeks, as you begin to come to terms with what it will mean to have Saturn now (thankfully) leaving your domain, and entering Scorpio. This is a sign that you associate with self-worth, and all that that means to you. Efficiency, frugality, and setting priorities will begin this cycle....it will be important for you to simplify, and have control over the purse strings... where it will lead is to security and self-empowerment.
“Eliminate all other factors, and the one which remains must be the truth.” ~ Sherlock Holmes (The Sign of Four). Mercury escorts Father Time into your world this week, and in doing so heralds a cycle that will span over the next few years. During this cycle you are going to be working a lot on the process of elimination, discarding, purging and rebuilding. Discriminating between that which is important and that which isn’t. As a result you could see elements of a former existence fading from your life, as you outgrow them. Let them go. Like old shoes that no longer fit, you are due for a more comfortable, more accommodating, more appropriate size. Your priorities, your needs, are changing as you get closer to your own personal truth of who you are, and what you want to do with your life.
Your ruler stationed retrograde last week. In some respects it feels like outer goals are withdrawing, as you seek greater personal and inner meaning in your life. One of the things that is going to gradually become evident over the next few years, is that you are outgrowing some of the elements, and even some of the people of your life. Those things that are still relevant and meaningful to you, will remain. But others which are no longer relevant, and may in fact be holding you back and preventing you from growing, will gradually just fade from your life. You will no longer have the patience for them. You are going to have much bigger fish to fry in the future. And you are going to have to prepare the ground.
As Saturn shifts signs this week, you’re going to start asking yourself a few questions. It will seem that you have achieved many of your goals at this point of your life. It will seem that you have learned a lot, have certain skills, and gained a certain reputation in your community. The next step is to begin to ask, where do you go from here? It’s not really time to be starting out on a new path. But you will be thinking more about what you have achieved and what you can do with all of that. The other thing to pay attention to are the sorts of individuals you wish to people your life with. Over the next few years you are going to be sorting the wheat from the chaff, and figuring out who your most reliable and dependable friends are. Honor these, for they are the ones who are going to be with you through thick and thin.
As your ruler, Saturn, shifts into the sign of Scorpio, you will be approaching one of your life’s peaks over the next few years. What becomes evident, is that in order to achieve your goals, in order to grow and move forward, some things are going to have to end, or be changed. This week affords you the opportunity to look at your future with enough detachment, to know what has to go and what needs to grow. Try not to take things too seriously these first few days. It’s really about just being realistic about your plans, and what you need to do to promote your career, to get a better job, or improve your life in some way. And the next step will be about making a commitment to that.
You may wish to escape the reality of a situation, particularly if you are feeling isolated in your beliefs, politics or world view. And people are trying to dissuade you from your position. It helps to take the higher view. It’s not us against them (no matter how narrow minded some individuals may seem at the moment), it’s what is best for the greater good of all. Listen to your intuition, and be patient and understanding when dealing with difficult people. Sometimes silence is the better part of valor. People don’t have to know everything that you are doing, saying, planning. Or actually which side you are on. Just remember, that the good and the true always wins out in the end.
