What's Happening in Wisconsin?

Posted on June 1, 2012 at 10:10 AM

On Tuesday, June 5th, there is a recall election taking place in Wisconsin.  It falls in the ambit of the Lunar Eclipse on Monday, the retrograde station of Neptune, and the retrograde Transit of Venus over the face of the Sun.  The recall election on June 5 was scheduled after Democrats and labor unions collected nearly a million signatures calling for Walker to be removed from office. For those who are not familiar with this story, this is a real David and Goliath, Uranus square Pluto story.  The story that inspired the current Occupy Movement in the US.

The death-knell of the republic had rung as soon as the active power became lodged in the hands of those who sought, not to do justice to all citizens, rich and poor alike, but to stand for one special class and for its interests as opposed to the interests of others.  ~ Theodore Roosevelt

Gov. Scott Walker of anti-union, anti-teacher infamy, has been buoyed in his office through the deep pockets of the plutocratic Koch Brothers.  He has been seen as the favorite in this race, leading in the polls by as many as 7 points until recently.  Yet interestingly, his natal Mars/Saturn square (frustration, obstacles in his path) is being visited by the culminating Uranus/Pluto square (revolution, reinvention, civil rights and change).

By contrast, his opponent, Sagittarian Tom Barrett, is basking in the light of the Lunar Eclipse (on Monday) in Sagittarius (revelations about truth and justice that bring change), and the Transit of Venus (understanding your heart’s desire).  I don’t have birth times for either of these candidates, so I cannot see the whole picture, yet I cannot help but wonder, are we looking at an upset in Wisconsin on Tuesday?  Mars in Virgo (labor unions, government workers) will be square the Lunar Eclipse, demonstrating a great deal of contention and activity.  Will the workers be pissed enough to come out and vote on Tuesday?  Or will they be pissed because their efforts proved to be all in vain?  Or will the results of this election be a catalyst for change that has even more far-reaching effects?

What is interesting about this election is the story about the middle class, unions, wage earners being attacked and demonized in this country.  It became blatant in Wisconsin, where a huge pipeline of billionaire money has been funneled to the governor’s office in order to create policies that will further their billionaire interests, at the expense of workers, the environment, and the middle class.  A decidedly Uranus/Pluto issue which Mercury is visiting the end of next week.  The Lunar Eclipse, a Full Moon with consequences, is going to bring many of these issues to a head on Tuesday.

What does this mean for us?  Pay attention as we approach this Lunar Eclipse this week.  Truths are being revealed.  Truths about what is most meaningful and important to you.  Truths about justice.  Explore and see what needs to shift, what needs adjusting, in order to make your ideals, as well as your desires, a closer reality. Maybe it’s you who needs to shift?  Maybe you were barking up the wrong tree?  Maybe you need to be more proactive.  Perhaps what you really want and/or need is very different from what you were led to believe.  This will probably be different for every one of us.  Because while Venus is Retrograde, and as Neptune shifts retrograde as well... it is about coming in touch with what you want, and what is important to you.  Not what you think you want, or what other people tell you, you should want.  Or what you do and say in order to belong and fit in.  It’s about what’s personally important to you in the grand scheme of things.  And it’s also about doing what is right.

In the present circumstances, no one can afford to assume that someone else will solve their problems.  Each one of us has a responsibility to help guide our global family in the right direction.  Good wishes are not sufficient; we must become actively engaged. ~ Dalai Lama

For the week of June 1st thru June 8th, be sure to read your rising sign as well (if you don’t know your rising sign, but do know the time of your birth, you can calculate your rising sign here):

Aries

You will be hearing this often on this page over the months ahead: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”  This change is evolving.  And in some way this Lunar Eclipse could act as something of a catalyst for Aries to take a stand, or allow her voice to be heard.  What could become apparent is that what you believe to be important, what you consider to be just, may not necessarily be the same as what other people believe.  And nothing comes from trying to force people to see your point of view.  The best defense is clarity, knowing exactly what you believe and why, and then gathering the most effective talking points to serve as your munitions.

Taurus

This Full Moon Eclipse is nothing less than the opportunity to realize your heart’s desire.  Your ruler, Venus, will transit across the face of the Sun, the heart of the Solar System, this week.  This is a rare phenomenon, which creates a window in which you come face to face with that which you hold most valuable, and which others perceive to be redeeming within you as well.  If you feel that you are undeserving or that you cannot make that which you value manifest in your life, use this knowledge to motivate you to take the steps to make it so.

Gemini

This Lunar Eclipse will be felt most strongly by those Gemini’s born between June 2nd and June 6th, or those with 12-16° of Gemini rising.  However all Gemini’s will be feeling this eclipse.  It’s almost like a sense of urgency.  This just may be due to all of the commotion that surrounds you at this time... or it could be due to an experience that motivates you to want to make that which you desire, that which you truly want, to manifest in your life.  But in order to realize what that is, you will have to explore how you might be compromising what is really important to you, for the sake of fitting in, or belonging.  Sometimes it’s prudent to establish boundaries.

Cancer

Gemini weather is usually the quiet time before the storm for Cancer.  A time in which they seek a peaceful retreat.  However, lunar eclipses have this way of amping up the volume in the Ashram, bringing things to a head in the real world.  The competition is fierce, and despite all attempts to the contrary, you could easily find yourself drawn into a controversy or debate.  Okay, maybe an argument.  Instead of responding with a knee jerk reaction.  Step back and consider what it really means to do the right thing.  As well as what it means to have your voice be heard in an effective manner.

Leo

As Venus transits across the Sun this week, it brings to heart what is most meaningful, most important to you.  Since this happens in the light of the Lunar Eclipse, what this is exactly will become most evident.  It can come through a conversation, something someone says or does, even an argument, or an incident that acts as a catalyst, or makes it evident that some sort of change needs to occur.  And then once you are aware of that which is most important to you, explore the ways, and what you need to do, to make that a closer reality.

Virgo

As you come to terms with what is most valuable and important to you, you also come to realize that not everyone has the same values.  Rather than getting angry and trying to persuade others to come over to your side by force, the best course of action is to realize what your values are, what is most important to you, and see what you need to do to make those values a closer reality in your life.  One of the best ways is through language.  The pen truly is mightier than the sword, if you use it well.

Libra

You enter this week with a certain amount of mental clarity.  Try to hold on to that, and pace yourself as the week progresses.  At times it could feel overwhelming as you are being inundated by information.  But what this week is all about, the Eclipse, the Venus transit and Neptune’s station, is ultimately about doing the right thing, and realizing what that is.  It requires a certain amount of truth and objectivity.  And moments of silence in which to listen.  If you get too revved up, you won’t be able to hear the meaning behind all the words.  Pay attention.  There is something important being said.

Scorpio

What you value, and what other people value, is not necessarily the same thing.  This could become painfully obvious in the light of the Lunar Eclipse.  Even if you think you win the debate, the war on values, it will feel like a hollow victory if you don’t keep your focus on the prize.  And that is about doing the right thing.  Scorpio gets drawn into this Lunar Eclipse through their ruler Mars this month, which can act as a catalyst to motivate you to take on some sort of leadership, or more active role, within a group that you identify with.

Sagittarius

This Lunar Eclipse in your sign of Sagittarius will be most felt by people who have birthdays between December 4th and the 8th, or 12-16° of Sagittarius rising.  But all Sagittarians will be feeling this sense of something being either validated, or revealed in the light of the eclipse.  For the good or the ill of it.  It could be a culmination, or the coming to a head of something.  And it probably won’t be without a certain element of dissension in the air.  Something is acting like a catalyst, launching you into a whole sphere of activity in which you will appear to be taking on an important role.  Your energy will be inspiring.

Capricorn

The nice thing about getting your work environment, your daily routine in order, is that you develop a certain sense of clarity when all of your ducks are in a row.  Neatly and beautifully arranged.  And that clarity carries you forth.  Hold on to that as the week progresses, and it becomes evident that some sort of wonderful process of change and reinvention is beginning to evolve.  And where this change is evolving could have something to do with home, family or country... but wherever it is, it’s a change whose time has come.

Aquarius

What you can learn this week could prove to be both enlightening and practical at the same time.  It’s nothing less than realizing your heart’s desire.  What is truly most important to you in your life.  Hold on to that.  Set your goals accordingly.  And then instead of getting angry or jealous or guilty, or any of those things we do that only serve to distract us from our purpose.  Or even worse, thinking that you don’t deserve them.  Use that knowledge to motivate you to create a realizable plan.  We all need a lodestar to follow and navigate by.

Pisces

Your co-ruler, Neptune, in its own sign of Pisces, will station retrograde on Monday.  When Neptune stations it is time to reconnect to the Self of All.  But occurring within the light of the Sagittarian Lunar Eclipse, it will be easy to be distracted from that possibility.  What with all the apparent commotion and activity taking place around you.  Probably the best advice at this time comes from Mother Teresa.  Even if you only find moments at a time to incorporate some of this advice it will do you in good stead: “We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness.  God is the friend of silence.  See how nature - trees, flowers, grass - grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.”
