Lost in Translation... Again

Posted on March 8, 2013 at 8:10 AM Comments comments (0)

March 8th ~ 15th

On Monday we wade into the New Moon in Pisces.  From Thursday thru Monday, we will be immersed and drenched in the depths of Pisces with Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars, Chiron and retrograde Mercury all in this foggy, mystical, watery sign.  However, shortly after the New Moon, the Moon will then escort Mars into Aries in a shockingly awesome way.  Will this awaken us to a desire to be once again motivated?  Or will we get a taste of what’s to come later on this month when we enter Aries season, with a bit of shock and awe?  In the mean time, even with the shift of Mars creating a little steam in his wake, we’ll be swimming through the labyrinthine depths of Pisces, trying to figure out what is going on and where we are on the map, and which direction we’re headed.

Mercury retrograde in Pisces is like wandering in a foreign country, a country where you do not know the language.  Like the 2003 Sofia Coppola movie “Lost in Translation” where two foreigners meet in Tokyo, bewildered and befuddled by the complexities of language and custom.  The words sort of make sense on some level, you think you can grasp the intent by the expressions on people’s faces, by their actions and whether or not they are smiling or frowning.  But without all the words, what they are saying and what you are understanding can easily get lost in translation.  The key is to find that place, that bridge that gets lost between intention and expression.  I shared this video clip last year when Mercury was retrograde in Pisces.  It’s worth sharing again.

Mercury in Pisces, even retrograde, when grounded by Saturn as we have had last week, when channeled can serve as the translator between inspiration and expression.  But it does take some effort and some training of a mind that intuitively understands so much, but lacks the language to convey this.  The reason why Mercury does not often function well in Pisces in the mundane world, is because it often translates as a lack of focus, the tendency to daydream, for the mind to wander where it will like some ‘mercurial amoeba’.  One person who was able to use his retrograde Mercury in Pisces in a very successful way, was the poet Robert Frost, who had his retrograde Mercury in Pisces trine Saturn, and was able to translate what he intuitively and emotionally grasped into a language that could be understood by others. In the world of Pisces, poetry is one of the mediums that can bridge the gap between divine inspiration and comprehension.  As Robert Frost said: “Poetry is what gets lost in translation.”

Mary Shelley wrote of Homer’s Odyssey, that when a priest and a poet fell on their knees before Odysseus, praying to him to spare their lives, the hero kills the priest without a thought, but saves the poet.  She said that Homer “felt awe to slay a man who had been taught his divine art by the gods.  Not the priest, but the poet, had influence with heaven...”

This week retrograde Mercury will be conjunct Chiron while square Jupiter in Gemini.  Mercury and Jupiter, are also in each other’s signs (called mutual reception), making this a particularly powerful aspect this week.  Robert Frost also had his Mercury opposing Jupiter (and in mutual reception), the planet of expansion, exaggeration and hope.  Despite his own bouts with deep melancholy and a lifetime challenged with darkness and Chironic type wounds, he was quite a successful, prolific, and well received poet in his lifetime, receiving 4 Pulitzer Prizes.  And although he never graduated from college, he received over 40 honorary degrees.

In our everyday lives, Jupiter will most likely only exaggerate the qualities of Mercury in Pisces, rendering us distracted, merely daydreaming when we should really be elsewhere, surrendering to moments of chaos and confusion, ruminating on the wounds that we carry, or succumbing to the divine as it will, and sometimes losing our way and getting lost in translation.  Jupiter, however, in his magnanimous way, will also instill a sense of much needed anticipation and even spontaneous optimism, getting us ready for the next phase of our journey which follows.  Let’s see if we can channel some of this inner elusive wisdom in a meaningful way, without getting too distracted along the way.

Whose woods these are I think I know.

His house is in the village, though;

He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

~

...The woods are lovely, dark and deep.

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.

~ Robert Frost

For the week of March 8th thru the 15th, be sure to read your Rising Sign as well:

Aries

If you’ve been feeling stuck, and like you haven’t been able to get anything done... just hold on to your seat cushion.  After Mars enters Aries on Tuesday, it’s going to hurl you headlong into a period of ever-increasing activity.  So enjoy the last of this Pisces stellium as an opportunity to connect to your inner vision.  Make some space and time to do so in your busy schedule.  This New Moon is a time for you to find the inspiration that will prepare you for the journey that is about to unfold.  Use the tool of visualization that the New Moon in Pisces brings to envision the future that you would like to see.  It’s like planting seeds in a time capsule.

Taurus

This New Moon on Monday is your wishing Moon.  What you might want to do is to bring some perspective to your dreams, hopes and wishes.  Have you made them so high and/or unrealistic that they couldn’t possibly be attainable?  Or explore the ways that you might be standing in the way, and not allowing them to unfold, because you think they should unfold in a particular way.  With all of these planets in Pisces it is important to listen to your intuition, to follow your bliss, and also to trust that there is a higher power operating here as well.  And sometimes all that is required is to step aside and allow the Universe to show you the way.

Gemini

This could prove to be something of a hectic weekend with Jupiter exaggerating everything.  Make sure that communications are clear, and that wires are not being crossed in the process, or that you are not over-committing yourself.  Even Gemini cannot be in more than one place at a given time.  That being said, this New Moon on Monday is excellent for planting seeds, or reenforcing those ideals in your life that you wish to be known for: such as acts of compassion, being available to help and heal others, any intuitive or creative gifts, or abilities that you have at your disposal to be the better able to be of service.  And most of all, follow your muse, and allow it to be your guide.  You will need one with all of this crazy information flying around in various languages.

Cancer

You may get a little insight right after the New Moon (late Monday night or on Tuesday, things get a little heated up) about what to expect later on in the month, when the harbingers of excitability and inevitable change whose time has arrived, come to visit.  In the mean time, use this New Moon on Monday to receive divine inspiration, and instill seeds that will allow you to be more open to spiritual ideals, journeys, studies.  You may be thinking about broadening your horizons in some way.  See where the Pisces muse is leading you.

Leo

Right now, with all of the planets congregating in Pisces, there are some things that appear to be beyond your control.  Appear is the correct terminology.  No matter how much you would like to, you cannot fix others.  This is one of those times when it makes a lot of sense to be aware of those things that you do have control over, and those, that you don’t.  Do think in terms of protecting yourself from any negative influences, or individuals that sap you psychically, and also see how you can purge yourself of any unhealthy habits, or unrealistic fantasies that might be preventing you from growing.  Instead see how you can use the impetus of this New Moon to plant seeds of healing and spiritual power that will help you to ultimately reclaim your life in some meaningful way.

Virgo

Things could feel pretty hectic, and it may be hard to tell if you are coming or going with your ruler Mercury all tied up in knots.  Make sure that you are truly hearing what you think you are hearing and that you are on the same page with others.  It is too easy for communications to get all discombobulated this week.  Use the Pisces New Moon to plant seeds of tolerance, understanding and acceptance of others.  Try to avoid the urge to want to fix people.  Only they can do that.  This is a New Moon of instilling compassion.  See if you can step aside in order to allow your heart to open and grow. But, once again, also use wisdom in being able to discriminate between what you want to hear, and what you are truly being told.

Libra

This is an excellent New Moon to think in terms of purifying or detoxing your life in some way.  What you do not want to do is to go overboard in any way, however.  Eliminating toxic foods are a good idea, but you also have to listen to your body and its response as well.  The tendency could be to overdo things right now.  Pisces is truly about giving reverence to that whole Mind/Body connection, while also keeping things in perspective.  It’s the realization that your spiritual and emotional health are just as important to your physical well-being, as are your diet and exercise.  So see how you can plant seeds of spirituality, inner peace and acceptance that will permeate your daily life.

Scorpio

If you have been feeling in something of a distracted slump... you will begin to feel revitalized after the New Moon, when your ruler, Mars moves into Aries.  After this week things are probably going to be speeding up considerably, so take advantage of this Pisces energy by trying to instill some added peace and serenity.  Part of that is in accepting children and loved ones unconditionally and without judgment.  If they have been troubled, see if you can spend some quiet time with them.  It is also about stepping aside and allowing some bliss and joy to enter your life.  They are looking for an opening.  You do have a higher mission on your agenda, but for at least part of this week, follow your bliss, your heart, your inspiration.  Allow it to lead you where it may.

Sagittarius

This is a great New Moon on Monday to visualize the perfect home or living arrangement.  How can you make your home environment a closer proximity to the ideal that you envision?  Remember to make it as reasonable as possible so that it can also be achievable.  And then step out of your way to allow your intuition to guide you to realize the best possible circumstances to allow that to happen.  If nothing else, seek to create more peace and serenity in your home environment: perhaps a sacred place where you can create, hope, pray... a corner that is your own special spiritual retreat.  A place where you can find both inspiration, as well as peace and serenity.

Capricorn

See how this New Moon can open you up to embracing spiritual ideas, or altruistic ideals that also opens up your heart in some sort of meaningful way.  You may find yourself involved in some sort of neighborhood cause, or helping out a neighbor.  This is not for nothing.  These are the sorts of ideals that you wish to promote in your everyday encounters.  Things could be pretty hectic over the weekend especially.  Make sure that you are truly hearing what you think you are hearing.  It will be too easy for the communication wires to get crossed, and/or to be over-committed.  Keep your schedule down to a low frenzy.   But do allow yourself to be inspired.  Something is compelling you in some significant way.  Follow your muse.

Aquarius

With all of these planets piled in Pisces, see how you can plant seed ideas that could lead to some sort of realistic and realizable lucrative plan later on.  Perhaps a hobby that could be turned into some sort of cottage business.  Just keep in mind, that with all this Pisces that it can be difficult to discriminate between fantasy and reality.  What’s probably even more important right now is to see how you can prioritize those things which are most meaningful to you in your life.  You may realize that you would be willing to sacrifice in one area in order to allow more quality of life in some other area.  Just so long as you keep everything in perspective, and don’t count your chickens before they hatch.

Pisces

Things could be a little hectic this weekend with Jupiter squaring Mercury this week, but keep in mind that this New Moon is actually an opportunity to renew your sense of self.  Commit to following your own path and your own ideals.  Allow love and compassion to enter your heart, and open up to all of the bounty that is potentially yours.  Embrace and plant seeds that will allow some of the finer qualities to grow, such as compassion, kindness, gentleness, tolerance, patience and inspiration.  May these all become a stronger part of your character so that you will continue to inspire others.

The Man of a Thousand Faces

Posted on February 8, 2013 at 9:40 AM Comments comments (0)

February 8th ~ 15th

On Tuesday, Mercury joined Mars (and Chiron and Neptune) in the land of Pisces.  Now Mercury and Mars are approaching their square to Jupiter in Gemini.  When I look at this configuration of Mercury (mental outlook, communications, speech) and Mars (volition, action, motive) in shape-shifting Pisces square Pisces ruler Jupiter.. I am reminded of the great silent picture character actor Lon Chaney: the Man of a Thousand Faces.  He too had Mercury and Mars in Pisces, with Jupiter in Gemini.

Lon Chaney developed his art of characterization through makeup techniques and acting that allowed him to actually become the Hunchback of Notre Dame, or the Phantom of the Opera, or any of the many characters he portrayed.  And just to add an even greater mystery to both his life and characters, he led a very private life, far and away from public scrutiny.  He was quoted as saying: “between pictures there is no Lon Chaney.”  In this way the characters he portrayed, were projected on the screen as the, albeit false, reality, while his real life was an enigma.

He was someone who acted out our psyches.  He some how got into the shadows inside our bodies; he was able to nail down some of our secret fears and put them on screen. ~ Ray Bradbury

By Mercury being in Pisces, Jupiter’s sign, and Jupiter being in Gemini, Mercury’s sign, we say that they are in mutual reception, creating an even stronger bond between these two.  And an even stronger conflict.  Jupiter in Gemini is kind of like not being able to see the forest (the big picture) for all the trees (too much information, commotion, busyness, interruptions).  And Mercury in Pisces, is kind of like not being able to see the trees for all the smoke and mirrors: what we wish, hope and/or fear to see.  This is great if you are creating a character for a film, but not necessarily wonderful for truth and clarity.  One begins to wonder if what we are seeing is reality or merely a projected image for our fascination and wonder.  Or that we are being led down the garden path.  What we need to be mindful of as we step into this New Moon in Aquarius phase this weekend, is to not to jump to conclusions, or to read stuff into things that are simply not there.

When what you are seeing is conflicting with what you are hearing, or what you are being told contradicts with what you are feeling or intuitively sensing, sometimes it is best to just let it be for now, lest you misread things, are deceived by others or self, or make unwise judgments.  This is not traditionally a time to make commitments.  At least not yet while the present is bewildered with appointments missed and crossed, information lost or misunderstood, and even more confounding, that you are being misled.  There will be those who will deliberately try to twist and confound the truth, possibly even try to deceive.  Therefore make it your cause to carry the banner for truth and honesty in all your interactions.  After Tuesday, clarity, and productive determination will then be able to resume, as Mercury and Mars then approach pragmatic and effective Saturn/Pluto.

This New Moon in Aquarius is square the Nodes of the Moon, and semi-square Aquarius ruler, Uranus in rebellious, and yet inventive Aries.  In company with the Mercury/Mars/Jupiter/Pisces/Gemini square thing, this could feel like all sorts of extraneous stuff is filling our lives with commotion, trying to disturb our serenity and our peace.  My favorite quote for dealing with this sort of energy is by the late Pastor, James Gordon Gilkey.  If you have heard this before, bear with me...  for it can be quite helpful:

Most of us think ourselves as standing wearily and helplessly at the center of a circle bristling with tasks, burdens, problems, annoyance, and responsibilities which are rushing in upon us. At every moment we have a dozen different things to do, a dozen problems to solve, a dozen strains to endure. We see ourselves as overdriven, overburdened, overtired. This is a common mental picture and it is totally false. No one of us, however crowded his life, has such an existence.

What is the true picture of your life? Imagine that there is an hour glass on your desk. Connecting the bowl at the top with the bowl at the bottom is a tube so thin that only one grain of sand can pass through it at a time. That is the true picture of your life, even on a super busy day, The crowded hours come to you always one moment at a time. That is the only way they can come. The day may bring many tasks, many problems, strains, but invariably they come in single file. You want to gain emotional poise? Remember the hourglass, the grains of sand dropping one by one.

New Moons are times of new beginnings, and if we go with this monthly cycle, it is an excellent time to plant seeds, even in the midst of whatever distractions may arise.  Some of the things that this New Moon in Aquarius is good for are: networking; joining a group with whom you share common ideals; setting goals for the future; thinking creatively, perhaps with the courage to try to do things in a different way, with a more modern, technical or even, revolutionary approach; learning a new technical skill; actively engaging in a cause; believing in your dreams; and finally, that there might, indeed, be a viable solution to your problems.  Sometimes all that is required is taking another perspective.  With the semi-square to Uranus and the square to the Nodes, along with the Mercury and Mars square to Jupiter... set your intentions, and then let them go, and allow that they may be fulfilled in a way or at a time that we least expect, but that are in the best conformity with our own karmic needs.

For the week of February 8th thru the 15th, be sure to read your Rising Sign as well:

Aries

If you are going to be taking on a challenge, make sure that this is something that you truly believe in with all of your heart.  Armed with the spirit of conviction, your faith can carry you far.  The only danger that can arise with this sort of passion, is forgetting that not everyone is going to be on the same page.  This requires a certain amount of patience and acceptance, and an understanding on when to speak, and when to remain silent.  Also, make sure you have all the facts before you commit to anything merely on faith alone.  There may be some hidden agendas that you are not aware of, or you could miss some crucial facts.  You’ll be able to get a lot more done after Tuesday, if you are able to hold off till then.  Powerful New Moon though for Aries. Seed some of that conviction into seeing some of your creative goals and aspirations find fertile ground over the next few months.

Taurus

There is an equally important aspect this week involving your ruler Venus that needs mention.  When Venus meets Saturn, as it will this week, there can be a sense of loss, of regret, or feelings of separation from others, whether it is actual or not.  Perhaps a feeling of being on the outside looking in.  Whether this actually means saying goodbye or not, remains to be seen, but if nothing else, there may be something said for spending some alone time in reflection and remembrance.  Dealing with the public in general will seem to take more energy than it’s worth.  Watch as this mood elevates after Tuesday, however, when the aspect finally separates.  What this aspect is good for is prioritizing, and making practical choices between the better and the dearer.

Gemini

One begins to ask what is right, and what is wrong and which is the illusion, as your ruler, Mercury travels through the illusive world of Pisces. Do not be assuaged by a sense that things are rippling out of control, or that you are overwhelmed by a frenzy of obligations, appointments or a to-do list that seems to never end.  Mercury in Pisces periods are best for reflection, meditation and serenity.  But when sandwiched between self-righteous Mars and Jupiter all in a frenzy, one’s peace will inevitably be disturbed and interrupted.  The key is to find the calm at the center of the storm, until things settle later on in the week, and you will find your bearings once again.

Cancer

All New Moons are important for Cancer, the Moonchild to pay attention to.  The New Moon in Aquarius is a Moon of change for Cancer.  Pay attention to those things that have a psychological hold over your life, that keep you from feeling free and unhampered.  These can be any fears that you are harboring about inadequacy, exposure or rejection.  Or these can be habits or obsessions that limit your possibilities.  Aquarius suggests the time is now to free yourself of any habits, fears, clutter or even people that control your life, or block your progress.  For you this is a Moon of change, renewal, freedom and rebirth.  Open the door and let the sun shine in.

Leo

This is also a time for Leo to explore how you may have compromised your individuality, either in order to fit in, not offend others, or simply to get along and be part of a group, a relationship or society.  But sometimes it becomes evident that a new start, from a whole new premise is sometimes necessary in order to lift the shackles from your personal self-expression.  Your true self will be able to shine best right now, when you release yourself from those things people or circumstances that make you feel uptight.  Express yourself, Leo.

Virgo

Probably the best key words for this week are ‘mixed messages’.  If you feel like what people are saying, and what they are thinking, are two different things.. you may be right.  Your intuition is working overtime these days.  But then again, so is your imagination.  People may or may not have ulterior motives, and may or may not be plotting and planning.  Listen to your feelings and allow them to grow, but don’t analyze them too much.  This will just lead to a state of utter madness and confusion.  To make the most of these aspects this week, allow profundity and serenity in, but keep paranoia out.  Things will begin to settle more later on in the week, when you will be able to find your bearings again.

Libra

Venus in Aquarius is usually a good time for creative aspirations, for involvements in groups, and pursuing your own pleasures.  However, when Venus meets Saturn, as it does this week, there is almost a sense of denial, of having to relinquish what you want or desire, in order to fulfill obligations and duties.  Or it may also be that you have to respect your limitations and/or lack of resources, making you feel like a waif standing in the snow, looking longingly into a bakery shop window.  Rather than focusing on the things that you don’t have, or that you can’t do, focus on the blessings and resources that you do have.  The current New Moon is square the Nodes, and these Nodes in Taurus/Scorpio have a lot to do with generosity and reciprocity.  Don’t allow a sense of poverty or fear to constrict your wonderful capacity for giving with a full heart.  Watch as this fearful mood recedes again after Tuesday.

Scorpio

All this Pisces energy requires one to act on faith, or from a gut level.  This can be treacherous if you mis-read the cues.  However Scorpio may just be in the right place and frame of mind to get something positive out of all this psychic chatter.   Listen to those feelings, and allow your intuition to grow and thrive.  Scorpio is probably one sign that can benefit from all of this subtle creative information, and make practical use of it this week, to implement constructive, practical changes, rebuild, revamp, and see a project through to its completion.  This will be especially true if you are willing to take the higher road.

Sagittarius

You may think you are coming across as motivating.  Others may think you are coming across as brash and opinionated.  So long as you maintain a healthful understanding of boundaries, and how much is too much, you should be able to navigate these treacherous waters over the next few days.  Do pay attention though.  People may be playing with the truth, or twisting it into a whole new reality of their own making.  The best way to deal with this is by holding on to truth and clarity in order not to make things even more complicated than they already are.  Open yourself up to new, creative or different ideas, subjects or discussions this week, in the wake of the New Moon in Aquarius.  It can open your mind to possibility.

Capricorn

There are two lines driving Capricorn this week.  On the one hand, in the background, is a driving force for constructive change, and trying to build a solid foundation in your life.  This can involve some sort of rebuilding or reconstruction.  This will be moving forward with a strong sense of purpose and commitment, and perhaps a bit of a vision, after Tuesday.  But until then, be patient with yourself, and chalk up any losses or separations with an air of acceptance and understanding that even the most cherished of circumstances will reach their inevitable end.  Longfellow wrote: Look not mournfully into the Past.  It comes not back again.  Wisely improve the Present.  It is thine.

Aquarius

This is your New Moon (this coming Saturday/Sunday) to reinvigorate, and embrace what it is that makes you uniquely you.  For those Aquarians who have a birthday this week (or have 18-24° rising), this is also about creating long term changes, goals, hopes for the future, for this is a marker of a new beginning in your life.  For other Aquarians it is still a time of new beginnings, that recurs every year at this time, which also coincides with the Chinese New Year (which is the Black Water Snake year this year).  Although Aquarius is about freedom, and following your own path, it is also a fixed sign, and can easily get into ruts.  See how you can open your world by changing a habit, or looking at the world from another perspective.  Be open to possibility, and almost anything can happen.

Pisces

Your mind is focused on the big picture this weekend, and wanting to make long range plans.  However, despite all of your enthusiasm, and hopeful outlook, or perhaps because of it, you may overlook some very important details.  Are you truly willing to make the necessary sacrifices?  Study all the facts before you make any major decisions.  Better yet, wait until after Tuesday, when more practical minds prevail.  Be prepared to have a conflict in ideology, or ethics this weekend.  The key is to avoid the slippery slope of compromising your own ideals, or allowing yourself to slip into the role of martyr on the cross, which can only further lead one into a labyrinth of endless compromises, sacrifices and interventions.  May your personal truth prevail.

Jupiter Direct and a Full Moon

Posted on January 24, 2013 at 9:35 PM Comments comments (0)

January 25th ~ February 1st

Jupiter, the planet of philosophy, of luck, adventure and foreign climes, stations Direct this week in the wake of the Full Moon in Leo.  One of my favorite foreign climes to visit is in the southern reaches of the Caribbean Sea.  I love the little Island of Bequia, my home away from home in the turbid tropics, where stress just slides contentedly off one’s back and into the softness of the humid air.  Filled with the special magic that is a signature of the Caribbean, you can sense the elemental beings in the garden, in the air, in the sea.  With village names like Mt. Pleasant and Friendship, how much more charming can one island be. Yet, apparently Bequia also has a few idiosyncrasies.

My husband was recently sent an article from the local newspaper reporting an incident of demonic possession in one of the island High schools, replete with school girls endowed with the strength of the possessed,  teletransported furniture, and people thrust across the room as the girls made demonic signs with their hands, and screamed in a panic of hysteria.  Pastors were immediately summoned, and upon establishing that this could be nothing but the Devil’s own work, they set to work to banish the offending demons.  Thankfully successfully.  The pastors then went on to explain in the article, that there are many doorways to demonic attack, including music, tattoos, promiscuity and fear... uh-oh.

I mention this article because here I am, a non-Christian foreign astrologer sporting a dragon tattoo on one shoulder, blithely intermingling with a whole other culture...  I briefly considered not going sleeveless under the present circumstances, in order to keep my questionable markings under wrap, and then thought...  what the heck.  I have many Christian friends here whom I adore, and who reciprocate in kind.  They tolerate my dragon and peculiar beliefs, as I respect theirs.  Isn’t that one of the most fundamental bases for friendship?

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind. ~ Dr. Seuss

This is one of those weeks, where the Full Moon in Leo playfully flaunts everyone’s little (and large in some cases) idiosyncrasies, even in the face of stern and disapproving Saturn (in the very glass house of Scorpio), squaring the Sun and Mercury in Aquarius.  It’s almost easier to accept peoples’ differences when they’re from another culture (Jupiter station), another country, with different rules and expectations.  But it’s when we are within our own culture, within our own group, that we are at most risk of compromising our own integrity or individuality for the sake of fitting in, and not appearing odd.  For fear of becoming an outcast.

Just remember, that it’s the individual, the original thinker, that is the hallmark of the genius, at least according to the philosopher Immanuel Kant.  And as Jupiter stations Direct this week, perhaps we should pay attention to his philosophical minions.  For Kant, originality was the essential character of genius, which has the ability to create unique ideas, ideas that are not imitating anything else.  The challenge this week is to simply be yourself, your own brand of original genius, even if it does raise a few eyebrows now and then.

For the week of January 25th thru February 1st, be sure to read you rising sign as well:

Aries

The Full Moon in Leo just cries, “Look at me!”, this weekend, and is also going to be lighting up that eccentric Uranus, traveling through Aries.  Flaunt your stuff.  Be who you are.  With no apologies.  Your world is opening up in some remarkable way, allowing you the freedom to pursue a path that is a true vision of your own unique self, and opens up all sorts of possibilities.  Be sure to grab that ring as it comes round your way.

Taurus

A financial or business deal that has been lounging on the back burner may finally be coming together.  Up until now, it was as if all the right pieces were not yet quite in place.  But now you have a vision of things finally lining up the way they are supposed to.  This Full Moon lights up your home and your family environment, in a way that allows you to feel much more hopeful about your future and possibilities.

Gemini

As Jupiter stations direct in Gemini this week, you will begin to harvest some of the benefits of Jupiter traveling in your sign.  For the past several months, the focus has been more on your motives, where you stand, discriminating between right and wrong. Now you are going to be applying these in your outer world, as you seek to make an impression.  This is not a week to be hiding your light under a bushel.  Come forth in the light of this playful Moon, and show the world what you are made of, and what you can do.

Cancer

This Full Moon is prime time for Cancer to realize what talents they have to share with others, how valuable they are, and what unique assets they have to share with the world.  Where at other times you might hesitate, this week a new perspective allows you to look at yourself, what you do, and your future with a whole fresh new outlook.  Perhaps this comes from the realization that you don’t always have to do things the way you have in the past.

Leo

The Full Moon in Leo wants to be paid attention to, and noticed, by those who matter.  This will not be so difficult for you.  Just simply be who you are.  Remember the words of Dr. Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss): “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”  Just remember that this playful Full Moon on the 26/7th, could easily leave you spent and exhausted after the weekend, when you will then need to return to reality, where responsibilities and obligations have been piling up while the Cat was away dancing with Owls by the light of the Moon.

Virgo

Although the week begins a little anxiously, with overtones of worry, and perhaps a few annoying deadlines, pay attention, for your world is about to open up in some wonderful and positive way.  This is because Jupiter is stationing (standing still) in Gemini, a sign that Virgo associates with status, reputation and future goals.  When Jupiter moves direct again after this week, you will begin to see the pieces of your future finally falling into place.  So worry not, dear Virgo, worry not.

Libra

With Jupiter stationing Direct this week in Gemini, this is an ideal time to be exploring the meaning of life.  Philosophy is an adventure filled with an endless quest for answers.  It is also an ideal time to be exploring meaning through travel, through discovery, and through exploration off the beaten path.  This can bring you to the 4 corners of your world, as well as the far reaches of the mind.  The incentive for this journey is your desire to know, and a willingness to open your mind to possibility.  Luck can now be had either from overseas, through education, or a judgment in your favor.

Scorpio

While everyone else is out cavorting and carousing, Scorpio is standing stealthfully back and keeping watch over the proceedings.  Perhaps feeling a bit like a wall flower.  You have things on your mind this week, and it doesn’t necessarily involve cavorting.  Focus on what is before you for that is where you attention needs to be placed right now. And if that means cutting back in some areas, or simplifying your life in some way, then so be it.  Jupiter’s station can open up a financial deal that has been lounging on the back burner.  Or simply awaken you to see what steps you need to take to reach your goals.  Any grand changes that occur now, are probably ultimately for the best, even though they may not appear to be so at first.

Sagittarius

It is time for Sagittarius to wake up and envision a bright new future that awaits you, with all sorts of possibilities unfolding before you.  Your ruler Jupiter is stationing Direct, meaning that the crucial details involved in achieving your goals are beginning to fall into place now. Partners support you in your endeavors as it becomes apparent how they help to pick up where you leave off, and the two of you can now look forward in anticipation of what may come.  Keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to do something new and/or exciting.  What comes your way will open the door to freedom and the possibility to grow in new directions.

Capricorn

The ribald revelry that the Full Moon in Leo can bring, is either misinterpreted or... shall we say, uncharacteristically indulged in, by our usually sedate Capricorn brethren, who try to pay attention to propriety.  If you do sport a few lampshades over the weekend, or flirt with a few games of chance... don’t be too hard on yourself.  Even Cappies have to step off their usual path now and then to reinvigorate, and recharge themselves for the work week ahead.  Just pace yourself, and don’t get too carried away, or you will feel it after the weekend... and you will be needing what little reserves are left to carry you through the week ahead.

Aquarius

This Full Moon will just make it all that much more obvious how you may be compromising your integrity, yourself, just for the sake of fitting in, wanting to belong, and be ‘respectful’.  If you have compromised too much you will be feeling confined, restricted, and harboring a bit of resentment towards those people or things that you feel are taking you away from who you are and what you really want to do or be.  We all have limitations in our lives.. the trick is to see how you can still maintain your own integrity to your true self, while taking care of duties, responsibilities and obligations at the same time.  It may be as simple as sporting a new hat, that just has you written all over it, or taking up a new hobby that allows you the freedom to be you.

Pisces

Wake up, wake up Pisces, as Jupiter comes to stand, he will soon tally forth again, opening up your inner world to a myriad of possibilities and opportunities about to unfold.  Trust your intuition.  There is gold there waiting to be discovered in the light of this Full Moon.  Even in the wake of anticipation, this is still a good week to retreat and seek rejuvenation, away from all the action.  It is in silence and retreat, that inspiration will come visiting on wings of hope.

~James Rado & Gerome Ragni (The Age of Aquarius)

Due to what is referred to as a slight ‘wobble’ in the earth’s rotation, the actual point at which the Sun appears at the time of the Vernal Equinox (1st day of Spring) is gradually shifting back through the sidereal constellations.  This is known as the precession of the equinoxes, and helps to circumscribe the astrological “Ages”, which proceed backwards through the zodiacal signs.  The period of time in each sidereal sign, is a little over 2100 years.  We are currently in the Age of Pisces, but it has been evident for some time that we have already been gradually transitioning into the Age of Aquarius.  There are differences of opinion as to when the Age of Aquarius actually begins, but it probably has not actually ‘arrived’ as yet, though this doesn’t really matter.  For the transition from one Age to the next, is less likely to be abrupt, as it will be seen to be gradual and unfolding.  Till at last we will be seen to have arrived.

Aquarius rules technology, computers, invention, digital photography, digital anything for that matter, space travel, and alternative paths and choices.  The Age of Pisces is associated with Mysticism, Secrecy and Secret Societies, whereas the Age of Aquarius is evidenced by Disclosure, Freedom, and Global Access.  The Age of Pisces is associated with Religion, and was said to begin with the birth of Christ, who was symbolized with the ‘fishes’.  It is privy to Inner Circles and Blind Faith; The Age of Aquarius is evidenced with the “New Age” Movement, Self-Conscious Awareness and a more Universal as opposed to Personal vision of Deity.  The Age of Pisces was evidenced by Charismatic leaders, Blind Faith and the Power of Prayer; whereas Aquarius is associated with the Global Village, Intellectual development, the Internet, Intellectual Freedom and Broadening of the Mind.

The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion.  It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology.  Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. ~ Albert Einstein

Because of its Direct station on January 30th, Jupiter will be sextile Uranus through March.  Jupiter is the planet of bounty, of largesse, and although weakened in its sign of detriment, when it goes Direct, it will almost, just barely perfect its sextile to Uranus. This is one of my favorite aspects, and it is also being highlighted this week by the Sun and Mercury.  Jupiter/Uranus can pass fleetingly and unobserved, but if you pay attention it can also bring enlightenment, liberation, freedom, and unexpected opportunities to either solve an existing problem or relieve yourself of some cumbersome burden.  A keyword for both of these planets is Freedom.  Freedom to explore, freedom to begin that project you’ve been wanting to get to, freedom to branch out in a whole new direction, or to try on new wings.  This is a time to be fascinated.  To have things revealed to you that can change your perspective.  It is possible with this wonderful aspect, that in some department of your life, things will never look quite the same again.

This week both the Sun and Mercury will be entering the sign of Aquarius, and engaging the Jupiter sextile to Uranus (the co-ruler of Aquarius).  With such an entry into Aquarius season this year, this is bound to be a period filled with innovations, realizations, liberation, release, inspiration and indeed, Mystic crystal revelations!  In order to take advantage of these wonderful aspects there are two suggestions: In order to be open to possibility and alternatives, change up your usual routine in some way.  Not to the point of becoming stressed out.  Just to the point where you have reached the land of the new and untried; Another suggestion is to step out of the busyness of your life, if only for a half hour each day, in order for progressive ideas, and enlightening solutions to be able to reveal themselves to you.  If there is too much noise in your life, you will not be able to hear them, or make sense of what they are saying.

Today is life ~ the only life you are sure of.  Make the most of today.  Get interested in something.  Shake yourself awake.  Develop a hobby.  Let the winds of enthusiasm sweep through you.  Live today with gusto. ~ Dale Carnegie

For the week of January 18th through the 25th, be sure to read your Rising Sign as well:

Aries

Excitement and possibility are in the air this week.  You could even be pleasantly surprised, as an opportunity to fulfill a goal or heartfelt wish reveals itself.  If you have been feeling limited in the scope of your personal expression, a solution may very well be just around the corner.  As these aspects of exceptional insight and intuition abound, see if you can harness and apply them to your own brand of genius and personal self-expression.  Write all ideas down.   Knowledge, invention and ingenuity can bring unexpected success this week.

Taurus

As the Sun and Mercury enter Aquarius this week, see if you can harness some of that Aquarian ingenuity.  Allow yourself to look at things from another angle or perspective.  The result can be absolutely enlightening.  One of the keywords of Jupiter/Uranus is freedom.  See how you can make your psychic environment much lighter by clearing out old resentments, issues and problems that have been festering like a wound in your subconscious.  There can also be sudden and creative revelations about a lingering health issue.  It’s all about freeing yourself of some burdensome yoke in some wonderful and uplifting way.

Gemini

Even before Jupiter stations direct in your sign, you’re going to be feeling the forward motion, as your ruler Mercury, comes to engage both Jupiter and Uranus, opening up a wide vista of possibility into your future.  Unexpected good news, an unforeseen opportunity, a brilliant idea, any of these may come to call this week.  Entertain them all with an open mind.  A friend, or group of friends could inspire you to rethink your old was of doing things, and thereby open up your world to greater possibilities.  Sometimes just by changing things up a little bit, you realize that you can achieve goals that you never before thought were possible.  Brilliant.

Cancer

This is a good time of year any way for Cancer to be looking within, but this year, there is the added bonus of profound realizations being unearthed.  Something being reborn from the ashes.  These realizations may contain important kernels of information pertaining to your future, or how to go about achieving your goals.  Over the next several weeks, success can be had by taking a less than traditional route, or daring to approach a challenge from another direction.  What comes down the pipeline this week is nothing less than an inspiration to grow in a whole new direction.

Leo

This could be a week in which you will be able to even fulfill some of your hopes and wishes.  Friends, networking, or a group that you belong to could be pretty instrumental in helping you along with this endeavor.  There is an emphasis on other people in Aquarius season any way, your partners, your associations.  And this week they’ll just be filled with surprises, and all sorts of helpful solutions to problems that may have been previously irking you.  This is not a week to be alone.  Go out, engage, discover and be inspired.

Virgo

This is a good week for sudden and unexpected business opportunities for Virgo, but you will need to grab them as they arise, and make some quick and nimble decisions.  You will be glad that you did.  Even if you are not engaged in any trade, there are still opportunities lurking about to promote yourself in some positive way.   Expect a lot of messages, phone calls, running about, having to be here there and everywhere.    Exciting and interesting news abounds, and you will want to hear every single word and detail.  Just don’t wear yourself out running around, or you will be exhausted and tongue-tied by week’s end.

Libra

For those who have the opportunity, this is a great week to travel, step out of your usual routine, and go out and have some fun.  Doing so can bring you a fresh and sparklingly vivid new window on the world.  This is because when you step outside of your conventional path, and look at the world like a tourist visiting a new and exciting locale, you look at the world in a whole new light.  Everything seems fresh and invigorating.  So even if you don’t get to go very far away, pack your camera in your bag when you hop on the train to work, and look at everything as if through a whole new lens.

Scorpio

There is such a fabulous learning curve going on here for the first few months of the year.  Learning about you, who you are, your personal makeup, your self-image, what you are interested in, and how you can go about pursuing that.  Follow your interests.  As Sun and Mercury enter Aquarius this week, also see how new ideas or technology can impact on your daily routine, diet, or health regimen in a positive way, that can lead to a more healthful lifestyle or help you to improve a chronic condition.  Solutions to almost any problem are in the air.  After Thursday, you may be feeling a little discouraged.  Listen to what your body/mind is telling you, and pull back if necessary at that time, but don’t lose sight of the positive momentum.

Sagittarius

You are going to be feeling progressively more positive over the next few weeks.  Part of this is because you are going to become more aware of the possibilities and direction of your future.  It could feel like all sorts of doors are opening, which also feels a little like freedom, adventure, and the chance to explore new horizons.  A sudden opportunity could arise, but you are going to have to be a little proactive to take advantage of it.  Step even further outside your usual ways of doing things this week, and express your true self without restraint.  We will recognize you by the unusual ensembles emerging from the back of the closets.  Think of it as it’s Free to be Me week.

Capricorn

There is some really positive makeover energy happening the first 3 months of this year.  This means that if you want to make things happen in your life, see how you can use these positive aspects to reach your goals.  This is about making long-term changes that you can live with.  This week is about finding solutions to problems that still may be lingering.  Open the door to new ideas and possibilities, and a sudden idea may just emerge.  Pay attention, because after Thursday there is more of an inclination for doubt to settle in, and you could lose some of the positive momentum.

Aquarius

As we enter Aquarius season this week, think of this as a celebration to simply be yourself.  With a little joy and abandon thrown in for flavor.  What a great way to start your year!  It’s almost as if the dungeon gates open and you are allowed to put on your Icarian wings and fly.  Step outside of your usual routine.  Experiment.  Leave people in both shock and awe.  And take notes.  Ideas and solutions will be visiting you with flashes of inspiration, and you won’t want to let them slip away.  Be open to graciously entertaining some pleasant surprises.  Aquarius!

Pisces

As your ruler cavorts with Uranus for the first few months of this year, think of this time as an opportunity to unburden your life, psyche and home of extraneous clutter, noise, and burdensome worries.  Then as Sun and Mercury enter Aquarius, see how you can create your own personal sacred space for creative exploration and dreaming.  There are vast horizons in both the outer world and the inner world, and often we ignore one for the other.  Both are filled with a myriad of possibilities when you allow your mind to expand.
